This is spot on. I'll add that if FPX improved their mistakes from Shanghai they would legit be in contention to win champs. That might sound crazy but they had TH and GENG dead to rights in map 3 of each game, but their inexperience and poor defense led to thrown rounds.
If they could get out the death group they could be a dark horse to go quite far, but that's a slim chance because instead of improving they've looked worse post-Shanghai.
FPX are confusing because they obviously didn't really care about winning after split 1--choosing to dry run experimental comps and seeing what stuck. At the same time though they kept making really stupid mistakes, throwing man advantages, and not really seeming to actually LEARN from their games deep down.
I wouldn't say they look 'worse' but instead kinda uninspired. This FPX has always been there but now the novelty is wearing off because they haven't had another 'eureka!' moment so far. Maybe this'll change in champs, but as of now they're "strong" but not "great"
