Wining the first LAN of the year

Me personally, I feel like wining the first LAN of the year sucks for the team and heres why:

  • With great power comes great responsibilities, if u underperforms everyone is gonna flame u for being so called "frauds"
  • Every team is going to study ur plays because how well u performed in the LAN event and they will steal ur ideas and compositions because, well u won the whole entire tournament
  • you miss out about a month of prac and scrims with other teams and u have no idea how well the new roster of the other teams perform. If there is a new patch it makes it harder for them to readjust

*Everything said wining a LAN event is fucking great for the team and the org, but this is just my opinions

is this a prefired excuse for when they lose 0-2 vs KRU?

your first point, SEN received an especially big blowback because they didn't even qualify for playoffs of their own region. i'd say more criticism should've been expected. your second point, of course teams are going to steal ideas and comps from good teams on specific maps, whether or not they win. what I mean is that you failed to associate specifically winning the first lan of the year with strat/comp stealing. third point is fair but overexaggerated, all teams have to deal with this at some point.

The simple fact is that Sentinels were just bad in stage 1. I have full faith they'll come back, but these excuses are shit.

These are not excuses bud. Dont think everything as an excuse. You wont get it cause ur team never won a LAN

yes it is.. every other team in val's history always plays good the second event they play after they win

Thats fair but considering that technically GENG did not win madrid, teams will def focus on the gameplay of the WINNER MORE THAN THE 2ND PLACE. But it is a valid point because GENG is a more adaptive team comparing to SEN

you made a claim that what you posted "are not excuses" followed by no real evidence. then, you followed up by bringing up a topic completely unrelated. it's okay though, you won't get it since you've clearly never received an education.

teams will focus on the opponent they're playing regardless of the outcome, teams from APAC probably studied Gen G more, because that's their opponent, same applies for SEN

Fair enough point to knock over my theory, but if u think about it:

2023 was the year of FNATIC and no one really fucked with them
2022 was basically OPTIC doing their stuff with the chamber meta
2021 was pretty fucked. SEN won master with no coach i think no one knows how to fucking recap a round

Oh so now ur gonna bring up another topic completely unrelated to the post, which was what u said. And now this is not even related to anything about valorant, not even related to the argument itself. Its just ur poor attempt to bring urself back from the grief that DRX lost 2 of their recent games

OpTic and FNC still managed to be the best teams of their respective years even after winning the first LAN. SEN is the only team who has this issue

Yea but if u think about it SEN played more games in Madrid (I think cause they lost once), and they played 2 BO5. Sentinels are a team that can be studied easier than GENG cause they like to stick to the formula rather than trying something new (Comparing to GENG). (You can see from the breeze comp)

Geng lost 1-2 both to DRX AND PRX Sen got 2-0'd by loud and choked against EG it is not the same, the only good team they beat that split was 100t

Counterpoint
Optic and Fnatic

Sentinels is the only victim of this "phenomenon" you describe
