Animated Show Suggestions

TLDR: Looking for suggestions of animated shows (cartoons / anime or whatever) that invoke an emotional response with the viewer.

Long Version:
My sister hates any animated medium, be it cartoons or anime and I just don’t get it. She uses the excuse of not being able to connect with the characters and doesn’t feel like she could be emotionally attached or involved with the characters because she knows they’re not real. She gave me a challenge of finding an episode of an animated series which would change this and we’re going to watch it before the F1 tomorrow. My current idea is to watch episode 10 of Violet Evergarden (the one with the sick single mother and frustrated daughter because Violet is taking up all of her mothers time).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

(She’s 18)

Haven’t seen Frieren yet but is on my watch list.

It’s super hard to chose just one episode to watch to do this as well because you build up attachment over multiple episodes so I’m pulling my hair out trying to think of other options

Cyberpunk
Oh NVM it's for your sister
Scrap that, we don't wanna give the child trauma
Just suggest some Shinkai or Ghibli films I suppose

How old is your sister, perchance? (If you don't feel comfortable answering, a range or level of schooling or something also works)

Ghibli movies are the best type of animations for people who dont care about anime. Also i don't think it would be enough to change her mind by showing the tenth episode of Violet without the context of the rest of the series.

Will check them out, and I agree with the take on Violet Evergarden but it’s hard with any series when she only wants to watch one episode

If you need 1 episode the first episode of To Your Eternity might be a good choice, rest of the show is just alright compared to the masterpiece that ep 1 is, so wouldnt recommend making her watch any more lmao.

Films like your name and a silent voice also very easy to ellicit a reaction, maybe even crybait like I want to eat your pancreas but obv that would take more time.

But yea if you have 1 ep that would be my choice

your lie in april

tell your sister to watch more than one episode. it’s impossible to get emotionally attached to a character without watching several episodes.

maybe u should take a different approach and try something light and fluffy. Spy x family might be a good idea. Making her laugh should be easier than making her cry.

If you want an emotional response Arcane is pretty good, absolute cinematic masterpiece that is very emotionally driven.
