Do you know why CSGO fans always only mention these few things repeatedly? Because CSGO always only has so few things.
CSGO is a game with only simple content and unchanged. It is more suitable for players whose brains are not good at accepting new things. And, after playing the same things for several years, they still think these old things are hard.
The whole argument of co streams makes me laugh. Why are people so proud that valve put 0 effort into cs, but so hateful that RIOT have a smart marketing strategy?
cs is far from dead, but valve are just slowly killing the esports scene. Even prizepools in Val are catching upto CS. Next years champs will be past the mil mark. It took csgo 9 years to hit a 2mil mark with the upcoming stockholm major.
Valve are honestly isolating themselves, with their little marketing. It will honestly take val overtaking cs, for valve to wake up and make big changes.
prizepool is somewhat relevant. Look at dotas prizepool compared to cs. CS has been a top tier esport for 20years.
Valve has shown they put more money into dota, despite CS being the top fps esport in the world.
I proabbly should have added onto my previous message, and Valve put mroe resources into Dota, than csgo. Riot have been increasing prizepools and production a huge amount in the past year. Just compare first strike, to now.
We've only 2 S tier events so far, which are the two masters. both hitting 600k/700k. The production of the two masters, compared to a cs major, are huge differences.
It's just down to which company cares more about which scene. Riot know the impact of esports on league and cs, so they're focusing on that with val. It will only keep growing, while cs will probably stagnate for a bit.
tldr; riot putting more resources to val than valve are to cs. If valve put half the recourses they put in dota, cs would be un touchable. Right now, val can take over cs within 2 years.

Prize Pool - 2018
Initial prize pool is $ 2,250,000 USD (approx. € 1,950,734 EUR)
12.5% of sales from Championship Kha'Zix skins & Championship ward skins is added to the prize pool.
Another 12.5% of sales of the aforementioned skins will be shared between all teams at the event.
In the event that a tie cannot be broken between Group Stage teams, prize pool money is averaged.
Approximate final prize pool is $ 6,450,000 USD

The proceeding years, they didn't add on the sales money. Apparently the in client sales were left behind closed doors, unlike the previous years.

Vietnamese teams will be given compensation, equal to 2.1% of the prize pool, to account for them not being able to attend due to travel restrictions.[3]
Gambit Esports will also be given compensation, equal to 0.6% of the prize pool, as they traveled to Shanghai as a backup team for LCL's Unicorns of Love, in case they wouldn't be able to attend the event.[4]
As a result of these modifications, more than 100% of the prize pool will be paid out this year.
Figures are based on the minimum guaranteed prize pool of $ 2,225,000 USD. A percentage of the revenue from designated in-client sales is yet to be added to this amount.

So there is a reason, just unfortunate we dont know the full number, other than the base purse riot gives.
I mean, hltv frogs hop onto vlr to complain about valorant. You don't see vlr kiddos doing that on hltv much at all.
Plus, viewers will be high regardless of co-streams. Co-streams, obviously do increase the number, but 80-90% of these numbers would be distributed else where if these co-streams didn't exist.
