Teams qualified for GC champions will automatically get invitation to region’s Challengers qualifier .

That’s such a terrible move no . Now people will hate gc teams even more when they go out winless

It's just the qualifiers, the good GC teams already try their hands at the qualifiers anyways. Who cars if they're just being invited now

This is different. This probably means they get a direct invite to either get past single elim part of quals or even skip all of that and get to the promotion/relegation tournament.
Getting rewarded this much for farming T4 gc teams is a huge Riot L.

no, they probably would go through the tournament like everyone else, if they did get to skip levels, it would probably only be because of a "bye" system like some tournaments do

Getting a bye for getting to gc champs is still an unfair advantage.

Unless gc teams still have to go through the single elim part of open quals and premier like every one else. In which case idk why they even included it in the announcement.

so by that logic, other teams who get a one round bye have an unfair disadvantage...

I mean, I do think the bye advantage for masters was dumb yes.

For challengers, the only way previously to get a bye was if you did good enough in the previous quals iirc so that's fair.

This is different since GC teams get an advantage for doing well in far lower level of play.

theyre probably not gonna have any significant advantages anyway, if any at all, they'd have to keep it fair for all teams competing in qualifers tbf, no?

Not really, just see as the following :
To qualify to promotion you have 2 way :

  • Win T3
  • Go to GCC
In the actual system we both ask GC team to both go to in their domestic league + GCC, and in premier, that's a too heavy schedule, so thats good it's less heavy.

Also, to me it should go in the 2 direction : If a GC team is in T2 before GCC, they should be directly qualified to GCC without having to play in their GC domestic league (2 domestic leagues would be to mush)

I don't think this is an extremely unfair / bad thing for GC teams, it is just qualifiers after all, not like they have a guaranteed slot in their respective Challengers region.

They still have to get through qualifiers and I feel like some of those teams that would get the "last slot" now given to GC would lose to most GC teams that entered the bracket this way regardless. SR, TL BR both took away series in their respective qualifiers already, and G2G qualified for VCL through Premier and they will most likely do it the same way again.

While you are correct in saying that hate for GC teams will probably increase, there is already a fair amount of hate for GC teams I feel. I think the only way to change people's minds is to allow players of marginalized genders more chances to get into tier 2 or tier 1. So this is a good change from riot in my opinion.
