Does an AMD gpu or an Nvidia gpu matter?

Tryna build my first pc and ive sorted out most of the build from youtube videos and here and there, the only thing im still confused about is the gpu, my budget is about 1200 usd and within this budget a lot of people seem to recommend AMD gpus understandably so for the price to performance being good, what i had a question about is from what ive read AMD gpus seem to bug out in Valorant(?) my friend told me AMD gpus and valorant dont go well together so i googled it and a lot of people on reddit seem to think so too but these threads are either very old or have little information, so im wondering whats the difference between these two and does it actually feel significant in game when you play (im asc 3 and i play on a laptop with an external monitor attached so i dont quite know what "optimal" performance is but still wanna invest into the right thing)

it kinda matter. i think nvidia a bit more solid with their core feature and less driver problem but much more expensive, while amd is cheaper and performs better budget wise, some of their feature are weird and amd driver sucks dick. if you are on a budget, i think AMD gpus are great though.
i've used both of them. rtx2060 (current rig) and rx570 (in the past).

Amd gpu should be fine for valorant. You can check performance by using the Game to render latency stats in valorant and see if you get spikes. Also Valorant relies more on cpu so I would focus more on that

Nothing significant if you only play valorant, but once you start playing more aaa titles, DLSS is way better and well supported than AMD FSR

AMD drivers really dont suck anymore its just an age old stereotype thats never been given up by the general community. Its also a lot of confirmation bias. Me personally ive run 2 Nvidia GPUs in valorant and 2 older AMD gpus being the 560 and the 5500 both AMD gpus were completely fine and i never faced any problems. If anything once i switched to my 970 and then 1650 (1650 has less problems) ive been getting a lot of stuttering, crashing (really REALLY bad on the 970), and sometimes even artifacting + invisible characters (tho tbf this only happens when i have ridiculous packet loss)

Both are fine honestly if you buy the newer ones. Valorant is coded well enough to work on both as long as you dont mess with stupid settings that dont need to be touched.

go with AM5 for the CPU and 2x16GB 6000MHz CL30

(Ryzen 5 7600 or Ryzen 7 7800X3D)

both good for game but sometime is driver`s problem, for some people need ps,pr..nvidia is much better.

I had both

Overall it’s a much easier time setting up and updating NVIDIA gpus

AMD’s UI is ass and confusing and it was a pain in the ass updating shit. And the AMD clipping always fucked up somehow

Just get NVIDIA ngl

nah believe me, i've been using r5 340 and rx570 for years it really was sucks. maybe not for the newer driver, but holy shit those old amd drivers were bad. and i also used the old gt210 and gtx750, both were great with less driver issues like amd does.
now i don't really know what's the current state the amd driver are, probably much better than ever. and i did recommend amd gpus for valorant in my post, you know.

NVIDIA is easyer to use. AMD is more powerful for the price.
For a first time id suggest NVIDIA

I do play a lot of other games besides valorant but i dont mind playing my single player games on slightly lower settings if it means i get fps (im used to playing games on the lowest settings possible since my current laptop has a ryzen 5 4600h and a 1650ti) im just concerned about any funny stuff happening like stutters and stuff while im playing valorant which would be pretty tilting even after spending nearly 1 lakhs on a pc

lol this might be a dumb question but when you mention clipping do you mean clips as in sick shots you hit, an ace you got or do you mean shit just starts clipping into each other in-game due to the graphics card fucking up the rendering or something, cause i kinda dont mind dealing with the shitty UI if it means ill save some cash

Nah I’m talking about clips

But I haven’t had any sort of graphical issues with AMD, just shitty ui and hard to figure out stuff

And there’s less support on youtube cause it’s less popular and all that for the general market

Yeah thats the conclusion a bunch of people told me, i dont really mind dealing with shitty/difficult to use UI if it means ill get more performance for the price so right now im leaning more into an AMD gpu (The RX 7700xt to be precise)

Ahhhh gotcha yeah i think ill go for an amd gpu, if i find the UI slightly annoying ill keep it but if i find it very shitty ill just return it and replace it or something, thanks!

Nvidia is better if you like to play competitive games since its nvidia reflex is better than the amd anti lag

amd for fps per dollar
nvidia for extra stuff like ray tracing, dlss
intel for ultra budget

agreed, but in most titles you won't need FSR unless you want to ray trace or you're trying to use an older AMD GPU for AAA games and use FSR to make up for it.
if you're getting a 6800xt (this is for 1440p) or better and you don't use ray tracing, you shouldn't ever need to use FSR for 60+ FPS
if you want ray tracing, you'll have to use FSR which yeah is a lot worse than DLSS on top of generally AMD cards not being good at ray tracing yet.

thank god someone mentioned intel
if you're a new builder don't use it, but if you're a more experienced builder and know what to enable/disable and comfortable in BIOS, an Arc A770 is INSANE for the price especially with the newer drivers and updates Intel is releasing. thing goes crazy for the price.

Literally just get what's cheaper/better value for your budget , which tends to be AMD more often than not. If valorant is your main game then it really doesn't matter, heck you could even go intel.

just got a 6800xt for an upcoming build for $380
absolute steal, literally so happy about it.
pairing it with a 12900k, 32gb of ddr5-6000 and a good mobo combo I got for 400
pretty much got an entire 1440p monster for 1.1k

Yeah I got my 6900 XT for 400€ and it's worked extremely well, I basically built a max settings 1440p machine for 1k € and so far have had no issues what so ever

gotcha, that's unfortunate. arc outperforms both if you could get it at MSRP

it's also Intel's first jump in for a while, so I'm super hopeful. competition is always good!

yep, competition in the budget and mid range market is guaranteed, with amds 9000 gpus rumored to be in the $400-600 range and intel getting into the market. hopefully this means the price for performance from both companies will be really good

I wouldn't be surprised only because I think AMD market share is growing due to used AMD gpus being insane value and even new AMD cards having better performance per dollar. plus Intel cards and slowly cutting the mid-range market. I think HOPEFULLY they're slightly feeling the pressure.

DLSS is literally fucking black magic. It legit feels like I got a 4090 at the price of a 4070.

problem is, nvidia can afford to lose market share with gaming gpus because their AI GPUs and technology are miles ahead of everyone else, which is why its a top 3 company rn

Bro you don't even need a GPU for Valorant. I am assuming that he won't be using his PC only for Valorant. For anything related to editing, NVIDIA by default is the winner. And for anything related to gaming, NVIDIA also wins because DLSS.

i mean yeah i agree, you don't need a GPU for valorant, but the previous gen AMD 6000 series of gpus are insane for the price.
