KC won't make another LAN

this is my personal take, can agree or disagree :)

to me it looked like this KC run from EMEA was like lightning in a bottle and the team doesn't look sustainable.

The shift of three duelists to two becoming flex roles have worked now because they seem to play their new roles in a more crude/simple way than someone who mains the role. You can say experience will play a major factor into the development of their roles, but as they learn more about the intricacies of their respective roles, I think their play will decrease from 1) worrying too much about what the right play is and 2) becoming more readable because they are trying to make the right play

marteen sort of reminds me of 2021 tenz on Jett, and tenz struggled with controlling aggression early on, so it's a toss-up on whether or not marteen will adjust as a main carry or shoot down the path of someone like asuna

I also don't completely trust MAGNUM as an IGL, but that might be more of a personal bias. He did look like he was outcalled at times (SEN), and his midrounding looked a bit suspicious at times. Add the fact that he's not the most fragging of IGLs, and it provides reason for concern.

The team swept through EMEA and even beat FNATIC. I don't think FNATIC loses twice, and TH has looked better this tournament (from aim to strategy, and it looks like they have more room to improve). So this leaves KC fighting with the rest of EMEA for the third Shanghai spot.

It all comes down to ENGH and his ability to bring the team together.

let me know your thoughts !!!

Maybe everyone in that region just sucks, and KC just sucked a bit less when it mattered.

I do agree with u as I feel like there’s a lot of competition between EMEA teams rn, and I don’t see them beating FNATIC again; I think FNATIC just let the ball drop tbh. However they are also a pretty new team and this experience could help them with their synergy and teamwork. Idk tho it’s Valorant anything could happen, but I don’t see them making another LAN

Doesn't matter if KC will suck the other EMEA teams suck more so KC has a chance to make shanghai.

I disagree mainly with the roles part. There are multiple examples of players not only flexing/switching roles, but also entire teams built off the concept ex: Tenz, Tuyz, Jawgemo, and for teams PRX and DRX are teams that took Duelist players and had them switch roles or flex. I also believe gaining more experience can only benefit KC as it will TH since a lot of mistakes, they made were in the moment decisions that you don't see as often from top level and experienced pros. I can't actually argue the marteen point because it's based in potential something that is impossible to gauge so we will have to wait and see but I still believe in his ability and growth. Magnum while getting out called by johnqt who I think is a top 2 caller at the event I believe experience can only benefit him as a rookie IGL. The last point I just don't think their good enough competition in EMEA to really challenge KC. FNC TH and VIT are the only major threats in my mind, but we have no idea how VIT will look with Trexx and while I do think FNC will bounce back at the same time KC will be improving as well. I also think N4RRATE is just the best initiator player in itw but that's based in personal bias.

disagree.

they beat fnatic. fnatic played well. not to 100%, probably to 85%, but KC looked dominant. they won on fnatic's best map while losing both pistols in regulation. if they have the skill to beat fnatic, then they have the skill to beat anyone in the world.

re: this tournament - marteen, tomaszy, N4RRATE have not played an international LAN before (correct me if I'm wrong), and this is magnum's first return to a big stage since 2021 (again, correct me if I'm wrong) - I expected them to lose here, but I guarantee they will be top2 by champs, and I can easily see them winning champs.

N4RRATE is the best player in the world. magnum's calling will improve with time. everyone will get more consistent, ESPECIALLY with ENGH at the helm. your proposition that they will get worse because they 'worry more' about 'playing right' doesn't really track - when anyone learns a new agent at a high level, they study the fuck out of how the tippity top-level players use their kits, and mimic that until they've refined it.

then, they slightly tinker around until they create their own playstyle with the agent(s). that is to say - they will not be in their heads with 'OMG am I making the right play?!?!'; they will be thinking 'okay, can't do that!' and just iterate upon previous mistakes.

Yeah, this team had 3 rookies (two of them with changed roles) + magnum isn't exactly experienced as an igl either. Don't really understand why people think they'll get worse tbh.

OPs rationale just makes no sense. I haven't seen other people saying that KC will get worse though, but I'm not very active here

fnatic will be back 100% but Navi they might have to change igl and coach as for KC and Herectic i think they are 2 teams that will just get better tbh EMEA is cooking this tournament just came too early for us.

The probleme is they were scrimming a lot during the off-season like 6 scrims a day 6 days/week. They just got hit by burnout by keeping the same pace in split 1 and the lack of xp in some situations is showing a lot in this split. I think this gonna be a great break for them and just reset and cook on the new meta with viper and Chypre nerfs. Even Sen a team with a lot of xp players couldn’t get ready enough for split 1 because the format is so fast for teams that make lans and no rest time. Th with woot got a new boost, with papitek u could see them hitting a wall slowly like all the master teams.

At the end of the day people are present moment focused and who knows which team will look good in split 2 and which gets burned by Shanghai into split 2 no rest.
If u got some points in master matches it’s worth going but only winner gets 3 points and top 2 is so much rekt.
