Controller to radiant

Little backstory - I've been a controller main for about 2 years and have climbed from bronze to immortal just recently but have a duelist friend who hit immo in a quarter of that time which boggled my mind.

I know it's possible to reach radiant on smokes only but not sure how long it will take as I see many duelist or initators gain more rr on average than smokes. Is it worth switching roles to climb faster or no?

lowkey my first 1 1/2 years of playing valorant i rarely played comp probably 40 games an act of comp and i play a shit ton, then during 2022-2023 i tryharded the game for a bit because i take online classes and reached immo 3 342 rr, its literally just grinding, everyone in diamond and ascendant can hit immo if they grind imo.
