The Global Esports Problem.

Global Esports kinda sucks. This is my first season following the VCT competitive scene seriously and I had to pick a favorite team. After much consideration, I decided to root for Gen.G. Whilst I was looking at our roster, I was surprised to see that t3xture came from Global Esports. Then I looked at Monyet. I wouldn't quite say Monyet has proven himself yet, but he was quite decent in that GE roster. There's also SkRossi, who I think has been reborn after getting a chance to play with Revenant Esports in India. Ayrin has not yet signed with a new team and Bazzi left but rejoined GE in February.

These players were almost always at their strongest when at duelist. Monyet has a great Raze. t3xture and SkRossi are two players that should be obvious. Bazzi has played almost half of his semi-pro/pro Valorant career on Jett and even Ayrin (who I feel was also decent on Sentinel)'s most used and best performing agent is Raze. It was a team with a lot of potential and firepower but not enough support in turn to help bring the team to greater pastures.

It was a team with a lot of potential which just had to built around one star duelist. Specifically t3xture (if they could pay enough for him to stay) or even Rossi (with his consistency problem fixed) could help greatly. Instead, the team was blown up and replaced with a (in my opinion) much scrappier team. Blowing up the team itself wasn't necessarily a bad idea but creating a team full of middle of the road T2 players from EU (Polvi has been mediocre at best on the Raze and Russ has left a lot to be desired) whilst once again bringing back Lightningfast for another season is very confusing. There were some good moves. Bringing in Benkai was a move I liked and blaZek1ng has shown some potential in a smart move bringing up a player from T2 in APAC.

Now this team is lacking the fire power their old players have and I am disappointed with the lack of proper roster building on GE. Let me know if I'm wrong here tho.

What made you support geng?

And yeah I agree but the thing is there was almost no reason to retain the 2023 roster. Monyet was unsatisfied with the team and texture demanded a high salary and obv retained rossi wasn't a good idea because of his performance

  1. Watched Gen.G vs. PRX and fell in love with the team, especially t3xture
  2. Totally understandable and I feel that I probably should have made that sound better. If I were to rewrite it, it would be something like "Of course, this team was probably not going to stay together. However, I feel that they definitely had more potential pieces to build a team around compared to now." or smth like that.

My understanding is it was a budget issue. That previous team would not have been cheap at all, and regardless of the unfortunate circumstances, did not have the required results.

It would have not been sustainable (money wise) to keep them, especially since a few of those players had gotten way better offers from other teams too. Especially with Ayrin, since his contract had also expired.
