True lmao one Korean high school has more world tittle than the entire NA lmao Faker the goat
cohnr [#14]both countries that are great to visit and look great at a glace but when you have to work and live there it changes
Sure, these countries are great to visit but that doesnt show the whole picture, does it. Having a bias towards Anime and cute kpop singers doesnt automatically make the whole country good. Which is also contradicting on itself because Anime-Animators are underpayed/overworked and the kpop industry is just a horror on its own
Imagine the frustration the average japanese/south korean person would get having to read everywhere that "japan/south korea best country in the world!!!!" because some weebs/kpop stans completely lost touch to reality. The majority doesnt even know how life there actually is and thus only a few will understand the true pain of the popularity there

please define quality of culture and people. every country has good and bad people. you're making an ugly generalization
Zerphyr1 [#49]I wasn't talking about influence but rather the quality of the people and culture
just a reminder u r talking to goofyahh1447 🗿
Biased, but Nordics. Obviously in terms of music, athletes, actors, movies, entertainment etc there are better countries, but overall the culture, way of living, values etc are some of the best IMO. Out of Nordics I would give the upper hand to Denmark or Sweden(some problems) followed by rest. Netherlands and Switzerland are up there as well. Like for example US is good at entertainment like music, movies, games etc but they also have a lot of stuff I don't like. Canada is pretty good, its bit like mixture of US and bit of Europe(mainly countries I mentioned).
Countries like Japan and South Korea are also good because they have a lot of own stuff and wouldn't have to be as reliant of other countries for entertainment etc, but they also have problems like some mentioned really high working hours, social pressure, and overall you need to work hard and success or you are seen as failure. Pretty hardcore culture.

Tbf Japan's overrated but for all the right reasons. I've never been there, but the Japanese people I've met have all been generally quite pleasant to interact with, and I heckin love the food.
r2 [#3]China
This is a good one to be honest. I probably would've given China as an answer if Italy didn't exist lol. After all, it's one of the only Asian country I've been to, and one of the only countries in the world I've enjoyed enough to re-visit. Honestly, I think a country like China easily outclasses Japan or South Korea in aspects such as food/culture/civilization/athletes/singers(debatable), but falls behind a bit in other parts such as popularity in the world.

I mean it just depends what are the things that we are counting for the discussion.
If we are talking just about how the country and its people are perceived from the outside, maybe you aren't even wrong. But if we count quality of life, level of instruction and all the other factors that are very important for who lives in the country, Italy is probably not top 10 and china not top 50 lol
The_Cleg [#59]Thanks for the shout but we not there at all :C
Okay, I can argue that the maranzas downstairs are annoying and loud and whatever, but I think Italy does well in food, culture, civilization, popularity, and even some actors/singers/athletes...

I mean, but once again, I guess your social class/finances matters a lot as well when you use personal anecdotes (like what I did). I would also say that the quality of life in China is better than in Italy (it's safer, everything is much more accessible except for some western websites, infrastructure is better, people are hardworking) but maybe that's because I've lived here for too long...
The_Cleg [#65]Let's be honest but in the matter of

It's USA and it's not close lol
I think ur forgetting important categories like culture and food

Ye that's why I did not put them in the list
Asuna_Yuuki [#46]It is objectively the US
In my opinion, the US lacks a lot of quality of life changes that could make it thousands of times more pleasant to visit/live in.
geospliced [#75]In my opinion, the US lacks a lot of quality of life changes that could make it thousands of times more pleasant to visit/live in.
How can you say positive things about china's quality of life and negatives to the USA?
Like I know a person who lives in china and not once he has told me that it's a great country to live in lol.
Also, freedom in the USA is not even comparable to china.
Sure china might have better infrastructures but the average American can afford things well over the average Chinese imagination.
And again, freedom and rights between USA and china arent even comparable

Thank you for the comment Cleg, I'll try to address your points adequately.
Funny thing is, I have a friend who lives in Beijing or somewhere up north and she tells me all the time about how nice it is and stuff lol. Ik probably just nationalism and I can't know for sure because I don't live in China but as far as I'm aware, just visiting is very nice.
And yes, freedom is not comparable between the two countries, but there are quite a few bad things that are caused by freedom.
But what I meant by quality of life is the fact that in China, so much is done to provide the citizens with a better life. The metro in Shanghai show you when the next three trains are going to arrive and the density of each cart and the strength of the AC, while in NYC, the trains are rarely on time. Once I had to wait 20 minutes or smth and almost missed a flight lol. But once again, idk if that's just NYC. ATL's metro system was whatever, but on schedule and stuff.
And from what I've seen, Chinese people don't need that much money to live. Sure, I know the housing market is super duper expensive, but healthcare and food and recreation is generally not that expensive. You can get a good meal for well under 10 euros, and I think that's quite the steal (although the food quality is questionable). In the US you have to spend more money on sales tax and healthy food and let's not get started on the healthcare.
And once again, yes, US is ten bajillion times more free than China, and that can be good and bad but mostly good it seems. And here's something a bit controversial, but I think the curbing of some rights should be allowed for nationwide stability.

Mmm yeah I think I get what you are saying but still if I had to choose where to live between china and the US I would have no doubts lol.
And I'm pretty sure that the majority of Chinese people wouldn't think about it twice when given the chance, especially when we are not talking just about the big cities like NYC and LA, but also about the rest of the US that is far more welcoming and made for actual people to live in.
But it's always nice to see other people opinions and also I've never been to China so it was very interesting to read what you had to say!
Btw, how come your English is so good? It's tough to find prolific English speakers here in Italy

I agree with you! I stayed in Atlanta for a day (a medium sized city), and it was actually pretty nice in comparison to NYC. I also have some friends in Michigan, and I've heard that's a really nice state to live in.
Honestly, yeah between China and US I'd take the US any day of year. Don't want to rely on a VPN, and it's hard to learn the language and all that. Also, I do like my freedoms and rights lol.
My English is among my strong languages because I go to an American school, so I use English to do work and talk and stuff on a daily basis. One reason I use vlr so often is because I get to practice my English on other real people. Your English is pretty nice as well though, you should be proud of it! And yes, it isn't easy at all to find good English speakers in Italy.

Maybe because I'm from the south? Are these kinda schools more common in the North?

Milan has a lot of international schools. I think it makes sense though because it's a big city and people from all over the world come here for business and stuff.

I was just making a joke chill out.
All I'm saying is that music also gotta be CONTENSTUALIZED and the popularity of the genre and artists gotta have some weight when comparing music.
That is, ofc, if you even allow music to be compared.
LyCan52 [#2]i think usa and Italy are up there
Italy was the best country I visited in Europe (london, Paris, Dublin, and Rome)
Rome was incredible

My girlfriend is Chinese and her family lives in China.
She has gone to China countless times in her life and her family is very well off.
She says USA is a better place to live.
China is dirty, overcrowded and rude. While she still loves China, every time she is over there she can’t wait to get home.
