Doesn't this move kind of screw them over?

If they make it into challengers next open qualifier then SR will have to choose either their MxS roster or their ex-V1 roster, and I assume they're going to favor the latter.

By getting signed to SR aren't they essentially stuck to the GC scene until their contracts expire or get sold?

Maybe they made an agreement with the org to sell them in that case, but I'm worried. I wanna see them all make it through to Challengers some day...

Best case scenario, the contracts that SR bought will expire before next open qualifier ig and they'll either play as F/As (and hopefully get signed after they secure a spot) or sign with another org without a challengers or vct team. The former option is not the most safe and there's no guarantee that an org picks them up even if they do secure a challengers spot.

It honestly feels like they're being forced into deciding to stay in GC or risk losing their livelihoods in pursuit of their dreams.

idk why you got down voted, I dont think they will try to qualify as this 5, i think theyll all go seperate ways after this GC champs, and this current 5 they have arent capable of making it to challengers

Maybe - Alexis and pick up someone better they would have a chance but this team rn as a full 5 ? No.

I do think for the time being they are going to keep the two rosters separate, GC players playing GC, and Challenger players playing Challengers. However I would not be surprised if they use this as an opportunity to maybe slot some GC players in their Challengers roster, more likely than not though it will be later in the season. I would LOVE to see players like flor in Challengers and/or VCT.

I am 99% confident that they're not going to replace any of the players on their current challengers roster. Plus Ludwig has most of the control there

Yeah more thinking about it and I do see it as unlikely. But IMO all it takes is one team to try it and other teams will follow, there just needs to be an icebreaker.

Idk if challengers system works like franchise system, but an org can have 2 teams on it, as long one of them is a GC team, even if they play in the same region.
For example, if one day BBL Queens wins Ascension, BBL will have 2 teams on EMEA Franchise.
If they use the same rule for Challengers, that ain't a problem.

What are the requirements to be considered a GC team to Riot? If it means competing in riot sanctioned GC league, then wouldn't that mean that V1/SR would have to compete in two separate tournaments concurrently? Assuming that's the case, that doesn't seem like an option.

They definitely do not use the same rules for partnership. An org cannot have two teams in partnership.

There will be no issue and the MxS roster won't be in danger. The ex-V1 players haven't suddenly changed their agenda. They will play to get into challengers next year and if they do, their current contracts will have to contingencies to let them out OR the contracts will already be ending before challengers begin. They aren't idiots. They aren't gonna sign contracts that prevent them from going for their main goal.

My concern is not at all that the ex-V1 players signed a contract they didn't understand the ramifications to or that they changed their agenda.

My concern is that V1 as an org (who had all the rights to their existing contracts until they expire) had sold those contracts to SR without any input from the ex-V1 players, which might result in a lot of the issues I pointed out; I'm worried that they got screwed over by their org

Obviously I have no insider information so for all I know these concerns are unfounded but they're concerns nonetheless

I think that in challengers, unlike partnership, you can have a regular team and a gc team (if they qualify) compete. I think I remember reading that somewhere in the past but not sure where. I'll have to look for a source on that but they should be okay if I'm not mistaken.
