should Riot remove GC?

now hold your horses 🐴 this is a legit discussion

Anyone with a brain knows GC will face some sort of discrimination. It is natural when majority of the league is one sex.

The question is: "Is GC's existence itself a motivator of further discrimination?"
With GC, these players have an additional "label" attached to them. This categorization makes it easier to discriminate or write them off.

pros:

  • no GC label that has negative connotation
  • teams might actually consider ex-GC players instead of pushing them off to GC
  • esports is ran like a charity, and GC is a super charity ($$$)

cons:

  • GC provides a safe space & opportunity
  • Riot hardly schedules events/games so the more events/leagues, the merrier

Lastly, I think the best option is a mix of the two. Keep GC but the talented GC players should play on other teams for Challengers/VCT.
This could be difficult tho since the good t2 teams are the most discriminatory (i.e. it is usually a house of guy friends that formed a team)

Why there is no complicated things like this on csgo? Hmm. All players happy to stay on their competitive side, man or woman.

I think it cause cs has a female circuit while Val has a female+ nb+trans environment which seems more like a safe space (not that no trans players are in cs)

ESL has their own version of GameChangers in csgo called "ESL IMPACT".

I know that. But I never heard one woman complain about this kind of thing.

I know im about to get flamed but I think it gc should only be for FEMALES
I feel like this would provide a better opportunity for them to prove themselves

This is what Leo Faria is trying to do.
That's why GC has remained with 1 international lan.

There shouldn't be more incentives to play GC than playing Tier 2/Tier 1.

honestly i would be up for GC staying but the winner gets a chance of competing in tier 2 for 1 season.
mostly because it would put the debate to rest about the true skill difference between t2 and GC

I disagree, I think making them go directly to T2 would be awful. It would feel like that team was propped up just to be included. I personally enjoy when all team have to show their skill and prove themselves in qualifiers cause if they win then you can’t take anything away from the team as they were just way better than others. However it’s not something we’ve seen from any gc teams so far but I look forward to it in the future

I agree with you tbh i'm just saying it would probably force people to realise how big the skill gap really is.

No, but I think the problem is that the goal should not be to stay in GC. It should be used as a transitionary period while you build team chem, improve strategies, and get experience. I think the goal should always be to make challengers, just like any other team's goal is.
