With 16 teams in attendance I doubt riot will do a 16 team double elim bracket... wait nvm its riot.

But seriously what do we think the format will be like?

i think it should be a group stage in groups of 4, into an 8-team double elimination bracket. that is the most perfect and optimal bracket for competitive play, objectively speaking. its the most fair, as well, as it allows teams a 2nd chance, to redeem 'bad days' which happen to almost every good team.

My only question is after groups, is 8 teams single/double elim or gsl ?

ok , considering that Masters 3 has 11 days of duration(September 9 - 19 ) and 3 matches a day max that would be 30 bo3 and one bo5( the last day just for grand finals) some of the possibilities are:

4 groups with 4 teams(24 matches) + 8 teams single elim(7 matches)
16 teams double elim(30 matches)

I'm probably wrong but it is just fun to think about it.

They might bump up the amount of matches a day. If CS can have more than 3, don’t think there’s no reason we can’t. They already had multiple broadcasters teams in Iceland. I agree though, who knows.

Personally for me, whether we have groups or not, I would prefer if it’s 16 teams Bo3 double elimination with BO5 final. The question would be how to seed them. My guess is they seed them base of how they qualified similar to Iceland.

GSL -> 8SE(?)
RR -> 8SE(?)
idk but it's not going to be groups into double-elimination playoffs, there isn't enough time
