People are mad china gets 3 slots despite just being 1 country
But none of you NA clowns complained that NA got 3 slots for champions 2022 despite being 1.5 countries at half the population size

b-b-b-bUt FaRAaDay, ChiNA iSNt aS gOod As oTHeR rEgIOns

NA had only 1 team for pre franchising that was actually good enough to win, why did NA get 3 instead of just 1 for optic

If you EMEA or smth then go off ig but NA ppl shouldn't have an opinion

Yeah sen won the first tournament in VCT and after that did nothing
Post first tourney of VCT NA did nothing

100T beat gambit in groups, not a actual win
ACEND are flukes

You're fucking deluded if you think CS has any nepotism. It's actually the most deserving teams around the world, and most of them are western. If Asia wasn't dogshit in CS, they'd get more slots.

If anything, nepotism exists in Valorant, when China with 0 achievements, gets as many spots as EMEA, simply because Riot is owned by Tencent. That's fucking nepotism and you better learn the meaning of the word.

the idea is to give everyone equal opportunity of growth, China is a year behind if u give them less spots they'll never catch up to everyone else. To get all region equal u should give them equal spots. If not the term minor/major region will rise again and NA complaining they only get 5 spots in Americas cause they get treated equally with South American counterpart.

In league of legends, a taiwanese/korean/chinese team has won the world championship every year since season 2(season 1 only EU and NA teams were invited). That is every single year since 2012, over a decade. Despite that, for the majority of league of legends history, NA and EU have enjoyed the same number of slots that korea/china received(3) with korea/china only getting a single extra slot in recent years.

I've been watch pro league of legends since 2011. I can guarantee if riot wanted to make the most competitive tournament they could in that game with the most "deserving" teams, they would invite 6 korean teams, 8 chinese teams and maybe throw EU/NA a single slot each. But have they ever done that? No. Will they ever do that(in the forseeable future)? No. Why? Because their e-sports are primarily global marketing exercises for their games.

People cry nepotism china this nepotism china that without actually using their brains. It's insufferable. It's just about $$$ and identifying untapped viewership wherever it may be found.

It's your right to cry. It's absolutely futile but it is your right. I just wonder hypothetically if in 5 years you'd cry if china was dominating valorant as korea/china do in LoL but they were still "unfairly" receiving the same slots as all the lesser "undeserving" regions.

And it's insufferable because people are bitching and moaning while attributing the decision just to nepotism. It annoys me when people are stupid and don't understand things. I guess that kinda makes me an asshole, but i guess i also have the right to bitch and moan.

Thanks for admitting Riot cares about marketing/money/outreach over competitive integrity (and before you say "oh it's a company what'd you expect", i'd like to remind you that they are incredibly profitable and are just fucking greedy). Yea. You're exaggerating. No one's gonna take you seriously when you say such alarmist bs. Valorant will be fine. Just like league of legends is fine. Also, not tapping into china would be a serious mistake. In league of legends, china alone brings in more profit for riot than all the other regions combined. I want you to really think about that last statement for a moment. Alone china does that. Call them greedy if you want, but assuming they have the same aspirations for valorant, they would be insane not to preempt and support chinese valorant as much as possible.

No eSport has ever survived or been taken seriously without the west. And valorant is already dying in EMEA/LATAM/BR. It's dead in CIS. Literally the last bastion of Western Valorant is NA, and they are very quick to abandon games. Once NA leaves, which is inevitable because they always do that, we'll be singing kumbayah.

The viewership is constantly declining, the eSport cannot survive without content creators producing clout, franchising literally killed tier2 in half of the world. The integrity is that of a clown show and all those combined will result in EMEA literally leaving the game. And tell me one popular esport that EMEA is not a part of. Omegalulwatch? Mobile games?

Someone doesn't know their e-sports history. A game called starcraft: brood war survived just fine for more than a decade in south korea without the west. That game and the influence it's had on the history of e-sports is why for most of the 2000s south korea was called the mecca of e-sports. Also, you're being pretty foolish. We're talking about giving international event slots. You're attempting to loop in a bunch of other bullshit and acting as if it's all because of riot's efforts to support china.

Valorant has never been super popular in europe, primarily because the premier tac fps is still csgo over there. And the reason valorant is dead in CIS is similar to the reason it's struggled in europe except on top of that, Russia invaded Ukraine last year and that event completely fucked over any chance Valorant had in the cis region. Riot has had to completely withdraw any support of the region because of sanctions and that isn't changing any time soon.

As for the viewership, it's fine. Is it exploding like riot would have hoped? No. But it's okay and valorant is definitely one of the most successful e-sports in the west/world. The tier 2 scene definitely hasn't been handled the best but that has fuck all to do with what I was talking about. Also, ever heard of cross-fire, that game has had a vibrant and successful pro scene in china since the late 2000s. Europe isn't some god given region. Even if valorant full on dies in europe, which it won't, it can still do just fine if it persists in NA and asia.

I agree, just one thing - China is 3 years behind actually. They're only starting closed beta Valorant in 2 days from now. Most current CN pro players are likely only those with friends from Taiwan and Hong Kong, CN servers ofc don't exist so all the current players are on VPNs and playing off KR/JP servers. Considering that they've already looked equally matched against both PRX and 100T, the potential the region has when its playerbase actually grows is insane to imagine.

Jesus christ are cs go players like you that braindead? How do you expect a region to improve if they do not have enough international exposure. That's the downside of giving spots to the "most deserving team" , you're neglecting other region regardless if how trash they are. How this weak regions can improve is by letting them play against top tier teams and not just isolating them out. And "nepotism" I would love to hear how giving Cina 3 slots have anything to do with nepotis, it's more like giving more regions a chance to play at the highest level unlike CSGO.

I guess that kinda makes me an asshole, but i guess i also have the right to bitch and moan.

china was dominating valorant as korea/china do in LoL

And then you wake up

And that was all the hype of waiting for 6 months + biggest tournament ever + 30 franchise teams + franchising + 20 new debutting rosters. It's declining real hard. And you'll see in tokyo, it will be even less.

Bro it's 1.4mil and 1.5mil peak which is almost the same as CS GO what are you smoking ? How is that even a sign of dying ? Don't tell me you see the 60k decrease and conclude that it's dying. If that's the case here you go

Yep, I can't take you seriously when you say brood-war, the game that birthed e-sports, was just barely hanging on. I can safely ignore any other replies from you. Nothing you say can be taken serious.

the game that birthed esports.
Man that's a stretch. Learn your history. Brood was only important in Korea.

Blud talking like EMEA was good last year excepting FPX.

none of the emea teams bombed out,,,g2 won a match liquid made it out of groups in iceland......in copenhagen guild made it out of groups as first seed with optic and loud in same group fnatic made top 4 ....at champs liquid again made it out of groups fpx were top4 and fnc were 6th just like xset so as a region emea > NA even though optic had highest peak

All I can see in this thread is people speaking the truth (that smaller regions should have spots, so that they can improve) and people saying "hurr durr, aussie this aussie that".
The moment you guys stop with this futile ad hominem shit you're gonna have decent conversations.
