Im genuinely curious how you are still a cloud 9 fan when they f*cked over one of the best players in the world from playing in franchised??
Hot take here but I think what happened to Yay was totally fair.
Yes he was the best player last year but only on Chamber. As a Jett he is not nearly as valuable as him on Chamber. And any tier 1/2 Jett one-trick can do whatever it is Yay can do on Jett, without charging the org 6 figures.
I think he should have just accepted a lower salary and stuck with C9 (considering money was the only issue)
you have no counter points to make lol. I know what I said sounds blunt and brutal as hell but it's still not wrong
Tell me how any one of these 3 statements is incorrect - "Yes he was the best player last year but only on Chamber. As a Jett he is not nearly as valuable as him on Chamber. And any tier 1/2 Jett one-trick can do whatever it is Yay can do on Jett, without charging the org 6 figures."
As for the last statement, yes it probably wasn't contractually possible to work out a lower salary but I still think a lower salary is better than just sitting at home and not getting to compete at all
I feel like they didn't offer him a lower salary bc that's just not how this works. They signed a contract to pay him a certain amount for the year, and if they break that contract, they'll have to pay a severance fee. You can't fault yay for wanting the salary he was contracted for, and I think it's implausible to argue they should just make a mutual agreement based off goodwill considering all the shady shit C9's been doing recently.
It's also NOT a good example to cut player salaries based on recent performance (and not what they were initially contracted for). I'd argue that's not only immoral from a worker's perspective, but would also lead to some SUPER wack business deals (even worse than what we currently have in esports).
Yes I agree with everything you said. He's an incredible player no doubt there and I'm definitely not judging him off his 2-3 games on C9. I think even with all his skills, at the end of the day he is just a Jett player. And no matter how hard he diffs other Jett players, that's still not worth a million dollars
