I have been playing Valve's new game Deadlock since May 2024 and have been one of the highest rated players in the closed beta. Since it has become public now and I have seen a lot of people asking what I want to do with it I feel like I should address how I feel about the game. I really believe it will become a huge esport with due time. I know orgs that are going to be all over it when it releases and I seriously cannot wait for the esports scene to start up for this game.

Sentinels went for the BR/NA mix, not because that was the best competitive option, but for the chance to capture both markets. Constantly churns out content etc etc Every decision they make isn't only about "will this make us win it all", it's just one of many factors in their shortsighted profit driven decision making. If you don't win it all, no amount of content on earth will make people want to engage with your fake ass content.

Compare that to the current fnatic making hard but necessary decisions to slowly build up a monster of a team, while kicking several "good eonugh" players. It's also a lot easier if each of your players doesn't have 50k hoodie fans thanks to your parasocial propaganda. The only content coming out of fnatic is believable enganging content from boaster in his downtime. When they are hustilng their personal content is minimal, sometimes non-existant, but mostly 1-2 hour streams after pracc/before bed. Helps that he is a naturally funny person.

It's the american focus on content and clout, which makes them disregard the things that matter. Sometimes teams come around, which don't have that focus, but mostly they get pressured into falling for the american way or get torn apart for those reasons. Perfect example is Tenz. Basically the Pogba of Valorant. Has one good showing and rides that content clout until he will be done with the game. The only key part missing would be a "tenzumentary".
