i didnt say mibr "deserved" the spot. i acknowledge that some teams do get there due to the results of other teams, but mibr did qual for a masters this year so despite not technically "deserving" the spot, they did do something to earn it. just like how NRG did the one thing that would win them a spot in champions, by going on a lower bracket run. and then it comes back to the question of how can you deserve a spot at an international tournament? it is already a privilege to be there because not many teams make it every year comparatively to the number of teams in franchising, and a lot of VCT players work really hard and a lot of them want to make it to champions. so this question of deserving a spot is not a rabbit hole worth going down because then it leads to these kinds of conversations.

how can you say a team "deserves" to make it to champions if they only would have made it in on a technicality? that isnt exactly deserved, don't you think? and what does it mean to "deserve" to make it? you were good? you put in the effort? you won a certain match so you "deserve" to be there? everyone who is at champions earned their spot somehow, even if they flopped later in the season.

o7 but a necessary change if 100T wants to challenge for that top spot in Americas. they just were not going anywhere with that core and I like the retention of cryo and eeiu, the two best players from the previous roster.

is every chinese team about to go out 0-2 in groups?? its really not looking good for the region this time around.

posted 5 months ago

i wouldn't say the japanese team was griefing, but yes peterbot did do well for a team without a drop spot. kind of embarassing that the other supposed top 2 teams on the NAC region with unconned drops and max loot, mats and surge placed significantly worse than the team with no drop spot out of the NA teams. the 2 teams that qualed from the most recent FNCS were the NA teams that placed the best too. i find that quite ironic, how the teams that qualed last did the best at globals.

posted 5 months ago

it was actually heartbreaking but yes i did also watch the nats facecam several times and then patitiek crashing out on cam too. the observers did TL so dirty that round with the replays.

posted 5 months ago

yeah the irony is i used to have the DRX flair on for 3 entire years straight till stage 1 this year and NOW the time when i doubt DRX is when it costs me my entire pickem. i should know better than to doubt opening match DRX...

posted 5 months ago

3/4 because i lost faith in groups DRX.

posted 5 months ago

mibr is definitely winning. this is a good gamble.

posted 5 months ago

i said what i said. EDG is going out 0-2, BLG 1-2, DRG probably 1-2 (T1 is not very good rn imo) and XLG at this point is already out against the china slayers.

posted 5 months ago

no, i mean DRG with demon1 has a slim chance to make it out in lowers. BLG is getting grouped.

posted 5 months ago

mibr are making it out of groups. every chinese team will get grouped this champions. i can guarantee it. even DRG doesnt stand much of a chance imo.

posted 5 months ago

not just group stage DRX, but OPENING MATCH DRX could win grand finals at ANY international tournament against any opponent. I am not joking. this team turns into the avengers every time they play an opening match. unbeaten and always look terrifying despite how they looked before coming to the international tournament.

they feel like the shakiest and weakest top seed tbh. I base my ratings of teams off "vibes" (a very flawed system ik but it works) and TL gives me "could make top 4 but will most likely flop" vibes right now. let's compare this to the other 3 EMEA teams at champions: GX is the typical underdog that can do serious damage at champs, fnatic is giving fallen titans but potential to win vibes, and TH feels like a wildcard. they can either win strongly or lose painfully. TL does not give me any winning potential. they feel like a challenger in every match, unlike a team like PRX who are like a battering ram - against them, you are not favoured to win. whereas against TL, they have some strong players but they don't scare me like PRX as a matchup would. idk if that makes sense to anyone, but that's how TL looks rn. Having said that that, i didnt expect them to lose to this version of DRX but i also didnt expect asstrella to be on the bench for this match.

let's put it this way. NA has the best fortnite player in the world, and in the top 50 best fortnite players in the world, 40 of them (at worst) are from EU. EU clears so hard in fortnite. just look at the most recent global championship, top 4 were all EU and only 2 teams in the whole top 10 were from NA, with the rest being from EU. at that point, even having peterbot can't balance that out, especially after his fraudulent performance last week. EU very clearly owns fortnite now and honestly, they were always on top in the pro fortnite scene.

well i dont have perfect pickems but its because i was "hatewatching" DRX (i was still secretly cheering for them when they played today though). my plan is that if i hatewatch them enough, they will win champions.

posted 5 months ago

let's see till tomorrow. they are not good enough to make it out in uppers but they can defo win that elimination match in the lowers.

posted 5 months ago

same. DRX will go out 0-2 and i will have perfect pickems for both group A and group C because EDG will lose the NRG rematch in lowers of group c.

posted 5 months ago

No. if my pickems say anything, its that EDG loses the rematch too because they just arent good anymore. the only chinese team that will leave groups is BLG and thats only if aspas plays significantly worse than usual

DRX would be lucky to escape this group...

this is delusional. there is no way that DRX "easily" beats TL.

might be a dumb question, but what is LVP? (i do actually want to know)

if you are going to talk about astr0ll0 when it comes to RRQ, you have to acknowledge how badly he messed up DRX in stage 2. DRX stage 2 was just hyunmin go kill and pray that we win the round, thanks to asstr0ll0. i will never fall for estrella propaganda ever again in my life.

if riot wants to do that, then it's their decision. they clearly are hungry for the money so i wouldn't be surprised, but orgs should not be blamed for riot's decisions.

posted 5 months ago

riot loses out if M8 pulls out of valorant. they are a relatively new but surprisingly successful org, that is only growing in popularity and fame. riot doesnt want M8's possible profit generating potential to be lost, even if they were an ascension team. it's M8's choice if they want to pull out of valorant because they don't see a point of staying in tier 2 which only loses them money. and obviously it is a power play to force riot's hand, but you are acting like M8 did something illegal to get this franchising spot - they only leveraged their position as a big org that deserves franchising and didnt want to wait a whole year to make some money from VCT. sure, it can be gg if M8 signed good players but that doesn't mean they have to stay on a sinking ship in tier 2 with no complete guarantee of ascending, even if they are likely to, because tier 2 orgs lose a lot more money. let's first look at riot and their lust for making profit before criticising M8 for what they did - if riot really cared about the orgs in VCT, what M8 did would not have worked. and once again, the players' performance is not on the org's shoulders. the players flopped and choked, not the management. you need to separate the org and the roster when you talk about M8, otherwise your bias will lead you to blame the management for the roster's failings.

posted 5 months ago

what was M8 doing wrong? were they not supporting their players? did they not make changes to improve? esports is not like a typical job environment. the results are fully on the players' shoulders. all management can do is make changes when things are going catastrophically wrong. did anyone predict the M8 roster to throw every single game in stage 2? they probably looked good by getting leads against the good teams in their group too. and the roster made changes after stage 1 too, showing that the management wanted the team to succeed. even if we use the comparison to a real job, let's think about it like this: if an employee doesn't produce results consistently, they get fired. and do you think any mid stage roster change would have led to M8 winning? not likely. the blame can't really fall on M8's shoulders as if the org management was making the players choke horrendously, and it wasnt even for long enough to see if M8 would have made changes, since they only played 4 games in stage 2.

posted 5 months ago

M8 is getting added to franchising because their fanbase is unfathomably huge and very loyal. thats what franchising is all about, making huge amounts of money in an attempt to make tier 1 valorant sustainable. just look at french orgs in other esports and you will understand why riot made this decision. i understand that it looks really dubious because it looks like riot was hunting for an excuse to get rid of KOI (based on the rumours about "breaking contracts") but you are trying to place blame on the org for something that wasn't their fault. you even acknowledged that the org made some great roster moves with a team almost fully comprising of tier 2 rookies, but you are blaming the org for the failings of the roster. what was the org meant to do about the team chronically choking every single game? You think that M8 whined their way into franchising, when the reality is riot realized there is more money to be made with M8 in franchising compared to other teams in franchising, and they didnt want to wait till 2027 for it so they needed an excuse to get rid of one of the current franchising teams, which they unfortunately found in KOI.

posted 5 months ago

bro are you really blaming the ORG for the players choking? im legit so confused, what is this? the players choked. the org did not. whats your problem. you should be pointing your finger at comeback, minny and veqaj for throwing leads in every single map of every single game they played in stage 2. you are braindead.
