which players are good I know nothing about anybody competiting here
pati is wiping his ass with the OWL rn doubt he moves back any time soon
financial stability and assets, commitment, ability to create content, fanbase
+ no big PR fuckups
RIOT's communication on it is that they basically don't want to pay for booths like Valve does for DOTA.
source?
i mean in comparison to EMEA teams I don't think there is any other region (currently) that has the same skill depth and diversity (which I assume is what he means by creativity).
APAC might in the near future if teams flesh out their playstyles a little more.
net and saya weren't random t2 players imo. net was one of the highest statistically fragging sentinels before getting signed.
the rest def were. trent prolly not even t2 literally popped up out of nowhere and started pounding
yeah! using something like the YouTube search option makes a lot more sense because people consume content for both games regardless of updates. Or, using a search term like "valorant masters" vs "csgo major" or "IEM", because people search those up for dates / tickets / scores.
the youtube search more or less reveals the same thing, though. (more east in Europe = more CS) https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?gprop=youtube&q=%2Fg%2F11j8wvrz8z,%2Fm%2F0h3pv2z
there's something funny about a player named dispenser selling skins lol
i wonder if there's a way to find the number of people in a certain wealth/income group, because of amount of leisure money needed to play the game in the first place (internet, a solid laptop)
I'd imagine that out of the 250 million people only a small portion of them have the chance to even play it or know about it due to the financial stuff.
holy kurwa this is some real shit
i don't even understand how that transfer happened tbh
Any TSM pickup ever
The time that Korean team picked up that Thai player and proceeded to shit the bed
maybe he just dislikes Valorant lol
with only 3 leagues of 10 teams each under the assumption that masters remains 12 teams, all a LATAM, BR, KR, JP or CN team needs to do is finish in the top 4 out of 10 teams to get to a LAN.
imo there's no region deep enough to have 4 teams better than the other regions' competition at the moment.
did you get a picture with any of the fnatic players
the supporting cast showed extremely impressive improvement
Xerxia just fucking threw imo
their trades weren't good and they let FPX back into rounds they should've lost too many times
there's a lot more factors to compare between them! however, they'd all be subjective. I still think an opinion of the team's playstyles and skill has more value than using an objective metric that IMO doesn't really make sense.
they have the right peak numbers for the finals of bigger events generally, but for smaller events (especially in smaller regions) they're very inaccurate.
usually within 50k of the right peak.
their averages are super off always though, because they don't moderate every match to the same extent as the finals.
i just don't think you can say one 0-2 team is better than the other on the basis of the teams that beat them.
especially when the two teams didn't get the chance to face equally skilled opponents.
And don't even let me bring up the average level of team who didn't qualify from those regions
do it. are you really going argue that teams like guard and 100t are significantly better than secret and onic? all four are dogshit compared to prx or optic.
how can you know whether TGRD or XSET would make it out of the groups Xerxia were in?
I am extremely surprised Derke is that high.
Just goes to show stats don't tell the whole story
the vct channel always posts the top 10 a few days afterwards
Overwatch and Valorant are in completely different boats IMO. the esports side of OW got cucked right as soon as it started by announcing the OWL way before the grassroots scene could really develop.
EMEA OW got completely fucked over by franchising, APAC and South America basically didn't exist (I suspect due to the game being 40 US). IIRC the Thai OWC team had to crowdfund their travel expenses to compete.
Valorant is popular casually all over the world outside of Eastern Europe. Its average twitch viewers are higher than OWs peaks ever were.
It would take an absolutely massive fuckup by RIOT to destroy the scene.
mf nostradamus
sadly you're not going to watch it because there's no fucking way BBL make it
if BBL makes it to Istanbul i will deepthroat a banana
mfs playing team deathmatch bro forgot about the timer
i don't know if M3C will qual but i do know i really really fucking want M3C to qual
APAC= Onic, I want to see an indonesian team internationally
NA = idc feels like the talent is too far spread to make a dent. TGRD making a comeback would be nice though, I love Saya
EA = SQUIDWARD GAMING BABY (Crazy Raccoon, think this team has a lot of potential with popogachi and neth)
SA = KRU + VK for trembolona
Japan still has like 100k despite being asleep it's crazy
I think a lot of them are NA/BR/LATAM fans watching to see who wins, PRX has a lot of international fans (80% of the twitter poll voted them to win vs FPX)
EMEA is probably like 20-35% imo.
i'm sure the vast majority of cs fans aren't toxic lol it's just the 1% that are douches.
i meant using the comparision as an alarming indicator that the game is "dying", or as a standard it should reach immediately.
it should definitely be used as a benchmark though!
it's a natural thing.
team does well -> more people from the region watch team next event
only place this hasn't held exactly true is Korean fans and DRX, but there are a lot of external factors affecting that.
If PRX has million number of fans i am one of them. if PRX has ten fans i am one of them. If PRX has only one fan and that is me. if PRX has no fans, that means i am no more on the earth
~1.1 mil for Iceland's finals.
there's no real reason to compare it to CS.
sports, and esports tend to have extremely dedicated fans that watch games for their teams / players for years on end. CS, having decades of fans, 100% has more viewers!
it's like Valorant's big brother. And, you can already see this happening with some teams garnering massive fanbases. M3C / Gambit had consistently high viewership despite being all the players and the team being unknown before 2021. Sentinels have a similar story. Paper Rex is currently doing the exact same thing!
the leadup will be amazing too
LCQs look stacked
Paper Rex
Fnatic
Optic
FPX
LOUD
LEVIATAN
DRX
ZETA
XERXIA
JUST AMAZING TEAMS, and XSET!
also LCQ! Hopefully, M3C make it through EMEA's.
these guys ran a fucking Valorant triathlon to get where they are
Shao and Suygetsu are playing like absolute monsters.
something like 400 rounds played over this tournament against teams from almost every single region and they just kept getting better.
are you kidding? PRX played an incredibly close game to nearly win the whole thing.
Every single player showed they had skill.
700k peak
down from previous events but it's expected considering the teams / regions
no JP, NA, or BR.
APAC has growing viewership but it's not yet on the level of those three. EMEA has been for a long while middling.
so? mfs acting like he's a traitor for cheering for his friend's team
