i'm not chinese, but i have been learning chinese for a few years now. i initially self-taught but am now studying it at uni. also i just know from some of the edg comms videos

on average, words in (mandarin) chinese are two characters long (two syllables), although many common words are just one syllable. comms can often have simple words that are adapted for a specific in-game use, for instance for breach comms "flashed" = shan le (just means flashed), "stunned" = zhen le (where zhen here means like to shake or quake), "aftershocked" = bao le (bao here literally means like blast). mandarin chinese also has a lot of homophones and near-homophones, so context (+ tones ofc) are key
