Back in July, after the massive Crowdstrike outage that ended up grounding flights and bringing businesses around the world to their knees, there was talk from Microsoft about locking down the Windows kernel in order to prevent similar issues from arising in the future. Now, according to a Microsoft blog post about the recent Windows Endpoint Security Ecosystem Summit, the company is committing to providing “more security capabilities to solution providers outside of kernel mode.”

According to the blog post, Microsoft and many of its security partners and vendors discussed several aspects of the future of security in Windows, but moving security features out of the kernel has some interesting implications for the future of gaming on Linux. Removing kernel-level security software would mean that anti-cheat software would all have to be implemented with user access, making it much less intrusive and far easier to emulate with translation layers, like WINE or Valve's Proton.

Theoretically, this should make it easier for devices like the Steam Deck to run games like Paladins and Fortnite — whether Tim Sweeney likes it or not. Many games that use kernel-level anti-cheat software, like EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat), are not compatible with Linux, despite that compatibility reportedly being a single toggle in software — however, game developers and publishers are hesitant to enable Linux compatibility, for some reason.

Somewhat comically, Microsoft directly calls out the Crowdstrike vulnerability in the blog post, although it doesn't go so far as to outright blame the outage for the proposed new approach to security. They would have to restart as all of their players would be promoted to the higher teams of EMEA. Apeks did not give up. Like last time, the team features a lot of former T1 veterans (and hype) and one promising rookie duelist. But these did not come without a price. Apeks laid off both their Fortnite and CS:GO divisions in order to "focus on the continued success of their VALORANT division." After dominating every other team this season there is one last win this Apeks team needs to prove this was all worth it. A win when it matters most. Will Apeks reach promotion or fail once again?

• PCIFIC Esports, who built themselves off the back of the scraps and young blood of Turkey in May to challenge each of the best teams the country had to offer. After losing to the other three best sides in the region in the regular season they proved how much they have changed beating Howl twice and Fire Flux once to secure a chance at Ascension. MOUZ and Joblife were two teams predicted to have a chance at Grand Finals. PCIFIC took care of both. Despite a loss to CGN at the start PCIFIC defeated both them and the Ultimates to get to where they are now. PCIFIC say they are a team for the people who grew up with e-sports and the young people who dream of playing on the big stage. They have shown both of that. But will it be enough to beat Apeks? Or will the clock strike midnight.

BTW if flor is making it past GC/T3 it's not going to be straight to T1 it's probably going to be with like Exa and other young ranked grinders on SaD or a FA squad
