Absolute Jupiter -> ZETA DIVISION was an organizational rebrand, not a roster change
Per the Bren announcement, the circuit points will remain with the the roster of players if 3 of the 5 sign to the same org.
This one should be a given, but VLR.gg will be providing coverage of the Stage 3 Masters in Berlin, featuring a wide variety of interviews with pro players from all regions.
Have any questions for any players? Post them below! They might get asked to a pro... 👀
Sorry, but Asia is logistically not possible for an international Valorant event at the moment. The timezone is horribly late for the Americas, and while more reasonable for Europe, it's still quite early for some countries.
If Valorant sees continued growth in Asia and gains a massive fanbase in mainland China, it's almost certain there will be an event in Asia in the next two years. But for now, the esport is too EU/NA-centric to risk bringing into the eastern hemisphere.
playoffs seeding is random, so we can't make pickems until after the group stage...
discord is really no different than having another browser open, so if you close your browser before you boot up the game, you should do the same for discord
idk how many resources the overlay takes but i usually disable it anyways but i find it useless
yeah, it's gonna be random... absolutely absurdist format
this is a bit obscure, but both technoblade and VLR.gg are heritage in competitive TF2, so i think it's kinda fitting to see support for him here still
fuck cancer
GO YAYSTER!!
i recognize a lot of people want to see dicey back in the server but
man is 18 and on the 100T bench salary, whats not to love
discrete mathematics and calculus are pretty rad
actually that might encompass most of math
you guys are following the oceania tour, right?
https://www.vlr.gg/event/pickem/649/oceania-tour-championship
it's F4U policy for some reason
they're pretty punctual with the youtube uploads though
I won't go into numbers, but from our small batch of SEA content, they typically receive anywhere from 1/12 to 1/4 as many views as NA/EU content.
The first two lower bracket games will have to be postponed as well because they both include the losers of these two postponed matches.
Three teams from NA can qualify for Berlin.
The two teams in the Upper Final are locked in. If one of them loses their next two matches, they place 3rd at minimum, which still qualifies.
The third team going to Berlin will be whichever team from the lower bracket reaches the Lower Final, where they'll face the loser of 100T v SEN.
if you're thinking of the weird case where sentinels can force it into 4 teams from NA, you're thinking of Valorant Champions
CS:GO content has been on the decline for years, and the current state of the scene has made it only worse. Elige made a great thread and a great comment which provides some good insight from a pro player prospective.
There are multiple points you could make about the game's decline in content creation and ambition. The lack of major updates. The lack of Majors and strong esports storylines. The stagnant matchmaking system. The lack of a solid and fun casual gamemode. The decay of Rank S and FPL. Cushy contracts discouraging pro players from streaming and pushing content creation.
Esports is only one part of a game's ecosystem, and unfortunately Valve has chosen to be negligent and ride the wave of CS:GO's past dominance until the money dries up. The CS:GO ecosystem is stagnating, and in some cases withering away, and it'll bring down the scene with it when it does.
uh oh
it's been an open secret for a while now, it was first reported by upcomer in early july
i also want to note that KR VCT being on LAN is more a detriment to the scene than a benefit
NSG LCQ? Yes.
VCT LCQ? No.
big words for someone who's clearly wrong
ill take you up on this offer: recommend me a flavor and ill walk to the store rn and buy it and review it right here and expose your taste
ive worked on sports productions and seen people drink bang on the clock
ive worked with people on programming projects and seen people drink bang day and night
there are people in this world that swear by this shit, it's not uncommon
and the data shows it too; last year, bang saw 80.8% year-over-year growth and currently bang is the third largest energy drink brand in the US, behind monster and red bull
i dont understand you people that drink these no-calorie energy drinks with these absurdist flavors
seriously, look at these:
i made two of those flavors up
so not only do you get the delicious "taste" of artificial sweeteners, but they're with these fever dream-inducing artificial flavors, a majority of which are basically sweets? even though it's a diet energy drink? and some are even coffee flavored??? and you people drink this willingly??????
just drink water
deep in the jungles of endochina brimstone gaming is being reformed under the leadership of supreme leader vanity injected with a superserum developed using the blood of steel, funded in secret by the central intelligence agency in association with lockheed martin to create the ultimate na superweapon that has successfully 13-0'd sentinels in over 250 simulated combat scenarios
According to the scientific logs found in the Mansion of Cinnabar Island, Vanity was born from a pregnant Steel, found deep in the jungles of Guyana, whose embryo had been tampered with to alter its DNA.
sources tell me tarik is cranking that soulja boy
Player cams require a lot of bandwidth, hardware on the side of players, as well as significant work on the side of the broadcast team.
The way Riot did them during the Stage 1 Masters (unless I'm gaslighting myself...) is that they sent each of the players in the event a Raspberry Pi, which is a tiny single-board computer that runs on Linux, with a camera attached to it. The players connect it to the internet and it essentially streams back to Riot's production setup and they use those streams live whenever they need to. The reason why the camera is its own device running on a RPi is because video processing takes some processing power and bandwidth, and they don't want it to affect the players' performance in games. This is the same tech that the Overwatch League uses.
It's also a lot on the side of the players as well as the broadcast team, which is why the more skeleton crew of NSG and other regions don't use them, as they already have complex online setups and it's expensive to host a stream at the scale that people expect from a Riot-sponsored circuit.
So, why not just use webcams, like your region likely does? Because most of them look like shit and it's still a ton of extra work. And really: who cares if people enjoy it a bit more; ultimately NSG are just a contractor to Riot for the VCT NA circuit and money is always on the mind. You're already tuning into the streams to see the teams compete, why spend extra money to set up player cams and other gimmicks? NSG have nowhere near the resources that they need to be on par with Riot's own seasoned production team, and they're stretched thin due to the numerous streams they have to maintain due to the size of their open brackets.
There are other nuances in this, but at that point, we're delving into business and that's a whole 'nother world entirely.
