But what is up with the complete lack of competitiveness? I'm convinced Riot is micromanaging player interactions.
I was thinking about why (at least) NA VCT feels so boring, and I honestly think it's because we are missing a rivalry. Most NA players are basically washed CS players who played on the same teams, so there's no real reason to hate one another. When it comes to international, the teams barely know each other. When Zellsis called out FNS as being trash, I was waiting for a response... but no we need to be absolutely respectful to each other.
I'm not saying we need Keznit level of toxicity (aka racism), just that a few more toxic players would actually help the game.

Lev has always choked in internationals. This is not an opinion, it’s a fact. Lev is easily the most inconsistent NA team besides maybe KRU. I’m going to laugh at all of you coping the moment Lev gets group staged.
It’s more that the Ascent games are, in my experience, heavily reliant on teammates. I can probably solo queue Haven/Split and carry even on Defense as an initiator main, but doing the same on Ascent is incredibly difficult.
What do you not like about the map? The only downside is that you need a controller to win, but the same applies to many maps.

Jesus christ enough with the fns comparison. Based on majors, sure, but valyn has the same or better macro with way better gunplay. No other igl gets the benefit of the doubt like FNS does.

This is a great point, but I only slightly agree. Superstars are damaging not because they get more kills but because they demoralize the opponents. Assuming G2 can maintain composure, they will beat the superstar team 7 times out of 10.
Why? Because better macro means having 3 players attacking a 2 defender site. Superstars cannot consistently beat this. It’s just a numbers game.
