xipto are dark horses but dana is the goat
i'm fairly sure this vlr kr-sea beef is one sided because korea has their own forums for valorant and only those who are good/decent at english bother to post anything here
and a significant amount, probably majority, of korean people don't post at all and just read. but this probably applies to like everyone
nationalism got a lot worse recently. i try not to assume biases whenever i talk with someone about something & i try to be pretty understanding in general. pre-franchising when it came to asia, people would come together more, nowadays there's a lot of inter-regional animosity. pretty sad to see
i keep my national identity on the down-low because i don't really want it to be used in any arguments i might get into on this site. imagine discussing something in good faith only for it to be thrown aside because "ur korean" or "ur just fakeflagging as a korean"/"not even a real korean" as if that necessarily matters.
the flag is only because of twisten. you must be a newgen
la la land (2 people fall in love while in pursuit of their dreams)
grave of the fireflies (two young children trying to survive the aftermath of the pacific war. probably one of the saddest movies ever made)
minari (not particularly sad but very moving, story about korean immigrants trying to adjust to american rural society)
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (a story about a robot wanting to be a real boy ;_;)
a Taxi Driver (korean movie about the gwangju movement)
Leafie: a Hen into the Wild (animated children's movie, but quite profound. the ending hits hard. i would recommend watching the original dub as the english version cuts off part of the ending for the sake of not breaking audiences' hearts lol)
i could count on one hand the number of movies i've cried to, but i think the one movie i cried the most while watching was this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Love,_Don%27t_Cross_That_River
i didn't even realise the tears were falling at first lmao, but this may be hard to acquire. it's probably got more emotional weight behind it given that this is actually real people and not made-up.
zywoo clear shot
zywoo>chovy>kakeru
its not yo girls fault but you look like a chump because you were clearly the second option ykwim
think about if your girl only got with you because her ex was broke. twice.
technically he did 🤓
rich sonic fan's tweet snowballed into talon getting kicked 😠😠😠ðŸ˜
(obv these financial woes ran deeper but for the narrative this is funnier)
wtf is this comment
promote fennel after evaluation so japanese players will be forced out of their tier 2 comfort zone man
i thought people were saying that the gaming government rules didn't actually mean much and kids were able to circumvent it anyway?
those guys have had money issues since like 2022
yeah some chinese players always seem to have some sort of scandal or controversy going on. i remember that was partly why i didn't really care for the lpl teams.
i remember bo and milkyway were supposed to be next up but ended up obliterating their careers because they weren't professional.
but faker winning worlds 23 soloing the entire lpl and 24 beating the best cn team of all time definitely had a huge impact then, no?
i feel like that's not even the case anymore, especially because buzz and stax went ahead and won their trophy almost immediately after leaving drx.
maybe it's because of meteor being a fucking goat though.
i genuinely think there is a fault in the way they approach the game or at least tournaments. like their coaching staff is missing something. i personally think that the secret to geng's success was their coaching staff.
i mean maybe man maybe but it is pretty sad that t1 and geng entered korea later than drx but won trophies before them and drx hasn't even made a finals yet despite the headstart & dominance they had
they made it to a finals at least ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
im never believing in their ability to win a trophy again man for 5 years they have edged me
gimme something crazy man
hot take drx aint doing shit its hyunmin flashback and friends rn
tobacco vanille is legit but i personally think it suits a more mature look
mf gave the usual suspects for pacific. boring.
my take:
prx slt ge t1
remember rules 1 and 2 but refer to #4
oh yeah i noticed this too. it's been a while. they haven't fixed this in like at least a month.
bme are never beating the allegations if they sneak into tier 1 AGAIN lmaoo
insane to bench him he's been solid for GE, him and Kr1stal should always be in the starting lineup imo
no questions just wanted to say congratulations, heard you had a pretty exciting life event happen this year or something
i mean there's more nuance to it than that. If an org is backed by a large company that refuses to give them a sizable budget then does that make them rich?
KT is literally bigger than SKT (parent company of T1) yet is infamous for being extremely frugal in their esports endeavours. I wouldn't say KT are a rich org.
I guess I'm saying that there is a difference between parent company and org. A lot of teams in Korea have large parent companies, but the orgs themselves aren't exactly operating under the same financial freedom.
Okay but that is besides the point of the original topic. Surely when we talk about orgs we're talking about investment into the game in question and not merely the combined net worth of the org itself? Team Falcons would be worth the entire market capitalisation of the KSA then.
Okay, which is basically the same thing. Surely we're not arguing non-sequiturs? If HLE are spending the most out of everyone else in the league on their team then they are the richest org. What, are we gonna say Samsung Galaxy was the richest org of all time then? Even though JDG spent the most in history on their 2023 superteam?
HLE is the richest league org
the topic of discussion was that HLE is not the richest org in league. Which they aren't but they're probably the richest Korean league org.
HLE is the richest org. T1 is a joint venture between SKT and Comcast and yes they are sponsored by the Saudis.
But just because the parent companies are big does not equal the amount of money invested into the project.
Samsung literally owned a team up until 2017, and if we're going by your logic they were the richest org in history. Yet the most expensive roster comes from JDG, and Samsung were notorious for being a budget team.
Gen.G is privately owned and spends more on their team than KT, which is another telecommunications giant in Korea, that actually recently had a larger market capitalisation than SKT.

not sure if you can read Korean but here it states Hanhwa spent over 10 million USD and T1 also spent a comparable amount - the nuance here reads more like T1 spent an amount comparable to but not more than HLE.

Hanhwa's parent company is no joke either btw.
HLE is the richest org in korea bro what are u talking about
they had money to retain and keep those players yeah but it helps when Faker is willing to take a paycut to keep the roster and most of them love the team and the org.
keria was a known prospect but he wasn't the biggest prospect at the time. t1 made a great move to go for him but he realised his potential after joining the team.
they are definitely not the richest org in league. theyre not even the richest org in the lck.
and oner gumayusi and zeus were legit academy players LOL and they got keria from drx, when he wasn't as famous as he is now
they do a good enough job. actually i think valorant's casting talent is not as good at deep diving compared to lol, but that might be because i'm high elo in val and not high elo in league
league's casting talent is top tier, probably the best casting talent in esports. cs and dota casters are on the same/slightly worse level.
you generally get gold passively and from killing minions, jungle monsters, enemy champions, and breaking towers. there are some little stuff like getting gold from breaking wards (gives you vision in fog of war), from dealing damage to champions depending on your runes (sort of like pregame stats), and from tower plates (early game, if you deal a certain amount of damage to a tower you can break plates, which give you extra gold)
drakes give you stat buffs per drake, and if you get 4 drakes you get Soul, which is an extra stat buff and also some tweaks to your champion (empowered attack, faster movement speed, a big shield, etc.)
you can't just 5 stack top and rush the nexus because early game you don't do a lot of damage and tower damage takes out a lot of your hp, so if you don't have minions to tank the tower aggro you'll just get melted. mid game you can't 5 stack top and rush the nexus because you sacrifice a lot of map control which the other team can use to get jungle objectives (drake/baron), and if your wave is not with you you will just get chunked.
a lot of league gameplay revolves around minion wave management, generally speaking if you push your own minions up far towards the enemy you get control around that area of the map where you can take objectives or place wards. that's why before teams fight for drake or baron they will push up a wave beforehand.
