yeah so if they arent as good as you thought then them almost losing wasnt them "selling". If G2 were obviously a better team than Geng and G2 lost then that would be them selling but the odds actually favoured geng to win for that match
G2 didnt sell, first map they won, second map they lost with a 3 round lead and then last map they had a massive comeback, if anything geng sold.
this makes no sense.
if pacific had 7 teams and emea had 1 and it ended up with a emea vs pacific grand final then would u say that "this is the best scenario so there's no "1 team region" banter for the rest of this masters"
this event EMEA has 1 team in playoffs and if fnc win then it proves even more than EMEA is a 1 team region.
FNC winning just further exemplifies this 1 team region banter. If FNC lost then EMEA is more so a 0 team region
it depends on the map, defense or attack, and the comp tho, you cant just look at these leads at face value.
for instance if you are on an attack sided comp and u play defence first and u end up at 7-5 and u choke this then this is almost definitely a worse choke than a 9-3 lead on lotus with an attack sided comp and u play attack first
they had 3 chokes across 12 maps which is pretty bad but im sure its not the worst in international history
7-5 isnt a big lead and you gotta simply look at gengs comp and the side they started.
without any context they look awful but if u look deeper then you can sorta see how they happened.
Against wolves for instance one of them was an 8-4 lead but this was on attack on sunset against wolves comp which was a very attack sided comp and sunset is an attack sided map.
I only really see 3 chokes.
A lot of these aren't big leads, and one of them that ur referring too was an 8-4 lead on sunset when they were attack first.
Geng choked 3 maps total which isnt nearly as bad as choking 4 grand finals (might be 5 now, i forgot)
FNC were known as a great icebox team but after 2023 they were pretty dogshit at the map and had a negative win rate in EMEA in 2024 even though they finished first seed.
Also haven is Sentinels 2nd worst map

xlg is an easy matchup but wolves and blg have proved that they are also good teams. Also just because they farmed CN teams that doesnt mean they are not one of the favourites.
If 2023 prime FNC played 3 CN teams and not another region then obviously this doesn't mean they are the 4th or 5th best team.
So we sorta have to go off what we can visually see in terms of how they play and in my opinion it looked better than FNC and maybe better than PRX
sen is probably 2nd or 3rd tho if we are being non biased

you could perhaps do 4 different group stages where first seed plays the loser of a 2nd and third seed who play again. same format as what we saw with the 11 teams in kickoff.
