Our best player isn't even playing right now and he's a fking kayo one trick igl. We have negative talent in our region xD

posted 9 months ago

That's because most of the regions playing right now are, unfortunately, pretty weak. Like VN, Taiwan/HK, and arguably even SA aren't that strong due to very little talent or poor talent scouting in general, so it isn't too shocking that the games right now are mid. I think the games will get much better later on in the tournament when the true best are playing.

the triple duelist comp be like. Any reason yall are running that comp or do the roles just not work?
edit: congrats btw!

Flyuh has been somewhat leaked though, since we do know about this. I assume he's talking about one that hasn't been leaked at all.

good news is that you achieved your goal! Congrats!

It's their MMR/their duo's mmr. Basically, if you're good at the video game and are better than your rank, you get to play players at a higher rank than yours based on your performance (they make up for this discrepancy by giving you more rr if you win and lower the amount of rr you lose) and vice versa. If their duo is the bad one, it takes the average of the mmrs which could end up being at a lower level than the player may be (or vice versa).

and/or terrible talent scouting. Like, how are these players not signed yet?

posted 9 months ago

I made a vlr post a while back about it. Let me find it

Well, AK hasn't played on icebox recently while M80 has an 80% winrate on it rn and last map is a coin flip imo.

posted 9 months ago

I checked the rating of most val countries and turkey was placed 4th on both metrics I used, which is impressive considering the fact that they have a lot of players.

Nah, they absolutely need flashes. Lotus has a lot of areas to contest, and no flashes/info meant constant dry peeking to control A and C. Breach is an interesting choice for sure though, but I understand the thought process. The main goal of the comp is stall (which is why they had viper, cypher, and sage initially) Furthermore, Jett acts as a pseudo-sentinel and omen is the default controller. However, clearly it wasn't as great as they thought, since they had no map control besides what was given. Breach has the most bang for buck utility with two flashes and a regenerable stun. I think the meta initiators didn't look so promising either. Skye has two info flashes + dog, but no refreshing utility is not great, especially since their comp is built on stalling/fighting for certain areas. Having a refreshing stun allows for constant fighting and cross map support. Gekko requires too much commitment at times to refresh his utility and he is lowkey terrible for stalling (since his shit gets blasted + if you throw util to stall, you aint ever getting it back) Fade looks promising but lacks the immediate power of flashes. I think they probably tested out kayo in scrims, but it probably didn't work out too well for whatever reason. I think it might be because kayo has basically the same util as breach, but kayo's flashes require too much prepartion? idk

I think M80's comp was actually built on this idea of stalling, forgoing the Jett for a sentinel and Viper for a true sentinel. Although I think viper would've been better for this comp, I think they didn't trust anyone that wasn't zander to play viper at a high enough level, but I digress.

But hey, what do I know? I'm not the greatest player myself and my knowledge on game theory is rudimentary at best.

posted 9 months ago

Ah, mb I misremembered. I just remembered that fut had a really shit lotus comp with sage, omen, viper, and cypher.

posted 9 months ago

It was fut’s comp I think

posted 9 months ago

I don't think it necessarily got bad per se, but a combination of things that happened in your life changed and valorant no longer became a top priority. At some point, you stopped playing it to escape from reality because it became your reality.

posted 9 months ago

Thing is a majority of Russia’s population in the European side. Most of Kazakh is in Asia afaik

posted 9 months ago

Every time I bottom frag on yoru, I’ll just say that I’m cosplaying a T2 player 💀

posted 9 months ago

The worst part is that it’s not even like this was an abnormal performance either. He never gets assists on gekko. He actually gets more assists on Jett I think lmao.

posted 9 months ago

Tbf, that’s because Japan is weak as a region. Japan’s entire T2 scene is dominated by imports because there are so few good Japanese players.

posted 9 months ago

I think they’re using skrossi wrong. For some reason, I feel like he’d be better on smokes/sentinel. His initiator gets like no assist, which is a sign that his util doesn’t support his team at all.

posted 9 months ago

Really? They are more Asia side though.

posted 9 months ago

Bro’s yoru is looking like me out here

posted 9 months ago

C’mon, this is scarz. Their entire shtick is having a non-Japanese Japanese roster

posted 9 months ago

It's a fan probably because on Riens's tracker, it still shows him as TH Riens and he hasn't played breach this act yet

edit: everyone else is probably right about it being an old clip though

posted 9 months ago

bouta be:
yota - french (duelist)
yoshii - filipino (initator)
kyedae??? (idk any jp heritage players that play in other regions) - American (smokes) Alternatively: apparently, GC players don't count towards import so maybe get like shirazi??
suygetsu - russian (sentinel)
ejay - filipino (flex)

posted 9 months ago

Does this mean he has a chance to join ZETA/DFM? Or is this mega bait?

posted 9 months ago

polvi definitely has the capability to become a top 5 duelist in whatever region he plays in tbh. He looked good at some parts of the season.

posted 9 months ago

Yeah, we've definitely seen T1 teams choke way harder than this. M80 is definitely more experienced and can handle the pressure better than Galorys. I think people are upset because they just want to see NA lose tbh

posted 9 months ago

First of all, he was performing exceptionally well at Valiant (at the beginning of the season, EMEA was hyping him up so much), so he probably got better offers (hell, even if he did stay in t2, he probably would find a place to pay him more). From a career perspective, he was a top tier player at this point in time. Secondly, he probably saw the roster for GE before he joined, and seeing 3 meh shooters in one team is probably a mega red flag. Now, he's stuck in a sort of limbo since teams don't really want to try him out after the absolute stinker his team dropped. If he stayed at Valiant, he probably would have seen more success AND more career opportunities in the long run. Obviously, there is a lot of hindsight bias, but we can definitely say that this was not the play.

posted 9 months ago

Yeah, joining a bottom-of-the-barrel team that designed the worst team known to man is not the play tbh.

posted 9 months ago

GE killed Polvi's career lowkey

posted 9 months ago

yeah, it's a bit rough for RA to be in the exact same situation again

posted 9 months ago

That's the thing, one of them has to get dropped.

posted 9 months ago

I think I would drop udotan for slowly. Slowly looked cracked af, and they do play the same roles (approximately)

posted 9 months ago

Honestly, the hardest part is implementing a routine. Once it has started, it’ll be hard to break. I suffered from procrastination too (still do tbh), but I started going to the library more and hiding my phone deep in my bag.

posted 9 months ago

I think TL should be higher since they're building around nats and keiko and dropping the deadweight.

posted 9 months ago

Team Kobolds was them bro. I have faith.

posted 9 months ago

I mean, I heard hardly any T2 discussion from EMEA as well. I only really heard about it when their ascension started.

posted 9 months ago

I think this might be skewed because T2 EMEA ascension just happened, so obviously EMEA fans will be talking about that. We'll probably see an uptick in PAC T2 discussion starting 2 days from now tbh. Idk why AMER fans don't talk about ascension more, but that might be because it's very stale tbh.

posted 9 months ago

Yeah ik, but Mongolian players are cracked enough to warrant having them on the team if they don't count as an import in t1.

posted 9 months ago

I mean, didn't viper get lobotomized multiple times throughout this year? She went from being meta every map to meta every other map!

posted 9 months ago

aspas - duelist (SA)
forsaken - flex (APAC)
s0m - controller (NA)
nats - flex igl (EMEA)
slowly - initiator (CN)

posted 9 months ago

I think he'll go back to playing sentinel and probably put off igl. He's not a bad igl, but igling in a different language is significantly different from comming in a different language imo. (Comprehension is 80 bajillion times easier than output) They'll probably bring in a t2 igl or put stax/carpe on igl.

I hope the roster looks something like:

izu - duelist/smokes
stax - initiator
xcurrate - sentinel
Akame - duelist/smokes
yoman - initiator igl

posted 9 months ago

Tarik about to show these young'uns who the goat igl is fr

posted 9 months ago

I am praying they -carpe soon. He has his peaks, but he's so inconsistent and there is better T2 talent that are hungry for a team.

posted 9 months ago

Technically, the idea behind the two imports rule is that they would import a player from the same region but not the same country (I think). The one import rule for franchising is to allow for cross-regional imports, such as something to PRX or jemkin to RRQ. Meanwhile, the import rule in T2 would allow for teams to run a more ideal team within the region (obviously, that isn't what happens). I think the best example of this is VCJ with how a lot of teams import two Korean players. In T2 China's case, the 'imports' should ideally be from Taiwan/HK/maybe Mongolia since they do have their own league.

We're Americans. We make EVERYTHING political.

posted 9 months ago

Wait, didn't zombs play back in like 2021-2022? Isn't the "FNC is great" thing due to their 2023 season? idk how zombs matters here

posted 9 months ago

they be looking like me out here

posted 9 months ago

I mean, they did perform well, beating Fennel and Riddle Order later on in the season. Scarz also took it to the extreme, using every loophole in the book in order to build the least Japanese Japanese roster. If b1sk is willing to play a role that doesn't involve comming OR the team is willing to communicate in some English, teams would probably try out b1sk. I mean, in split 2, there were 0 Japanese players (unless you count Yotaa) in the top 5 rated players in the circuit. Clearly, it is not THAT bad of an idea.

posted 9 months ago

Also, does it really matter if b1sk can speak good english? Vookashu is doing alright while not knowing Chinese in an arguably harder league. If they put b1sk on perma chamber (or train him up as a senti), b1sk wouldn't need to say anything (and hey, maybe he'll learn JP along the way!) This is especially the case since he probably won't need to say more than "They're here!" or spam pings corner "here!" or "rotate!"
