2 years or not, it's different for every team.
Yeah and what gains does that mean for you? Let the team grow. Enough is enough.
The country of the organization itself, for now.
This is my opinion: As far as I'm concerned, Riot never really gave an official regional designation for every partner team. It's the Americas, EMEA, and Pacific partnership teams. And while yes, teams have come forth like Talon saying they'll represent Thailand, I prefer to leave it as it is.
It's a political rabbit hole that plagues the Chinese video game market.
The game is not out in China. I assume there will still be third-party tournaments in coordination with Riot, but as long as the game isn't officially out in China, the region and teams won't have a proper sanctioned circuit probably outside of LCQ and/or Masters-Champions. Players should be still individually contracted regardless.
That and DetonatioN is one of the oldest org in Japan too. Lots of capita, lots of pedigree. You gotta have both.
You can hear it in particular in BOOM vs OPTIC's video on the Valorant Champions Tour channel.
Indonesians call the tall wall in Breeze B China, so we do have ridiculous callouts as well
Doesn't matter. While they will want improvement, they still want representation. Doesn't matter. They want that regional pride.
What Slashy said. Over time, I have no doubt fans will acclimate and learn that's the reality that they have to face. Still, I feel like people always forgot or completely didn't know that regionalism and national pride is very intertwined in APAC's fanbases. I mean, look at Challengers APAC and their subregions throughout this year. TH, ID, VN, PH, HK/TW, South Asia, OCE, and MY/SG fans bitterly bickering over which region is the best.
Honestly, The only comparison I could see is whenever international competition is involved and within the Americas and the EMEA scene, I feel LATAM, BR, and Turkey share these similarities too.
Uhuh. I talk crap to Indonesians too. I talk crap to various people who tries to be a smartass. I don't fucking discriminate.
I don't care. I will dunk on anyone who talks crap.
Not exactly, but RRQ is quite the staple in Indonesian esports.
RRQ was established in 2013, they're one of the oldest and the best esports Org from SEA.
Its founder is the son of a conglomerate in Indonesia (Midplaza Holding & Ayana Hotels) & already been in the esports/gaming ecosystem since 2011.
OneUp (sub-company of Qeon Holding, Parent of RRQ & OneUp) supports the Riot Ecosystem (Valorant & Wild Rift) by organizing Riot official tournaments in Indonesia since day 1.
They are also investing in both Valorant & Wild Rift ecosystem by building a team, their WIld Rift team is one of the best in the world.
They were one of the most notable DOTA 2 teams in SEA, they were the best Point Blank team in the world (FPS game that was popular in ID,TH,RU,BR).
They've been investing in multiple countries (ID-TH-PH-BR-MY), They are proven in Franchising (MLBB), and They have one biggest fanbase in Asia.

They're consistently on the Top 10 most views team in the past 2 years, only from Competitive match, without TWITCH CREATORS. If you count their streamers' view hours then ULALA will be on that Top 3 or Top 5.

They might be a bit unknown on the international stage, because they don't have those American games, League, or CSGO titles. But if you are into Mobile Games, they're the King.
(Thanks tamago)
Sure it was a business decision, but did you know that with when the OCE League of Legends infrastructure moved to NA, the OCE league was killed as a direct effect? People were worried. It took ESL and investment cooperation to revive an OCE league. That's why I was opposed to OCE being grouped with NA in Year 1.
OCE moved to NA kinda killed OCE to begin with, tbh.
So why EDG dominated EA LCQ and made it to Champions rather than the JP and KR teams? Where were the Indian teams?
Talon is going to represent Thailand ffs, they literally announced it. RRQ, I assume, wants to honor and try to give their PH players chances. Their PH team just won a local LAN, right?
Talk about paranoia, jeez. Y'all are overreacting.
Literally Talon had announced that they will rep TH. Chill.
Literal translation is bottled tea. Tehbotol is also a brand of, funnily enough, boxed/bottled tea!
Kayak CSGO spray tapi sakitnya lebih mendalam wkwkwkwkwkwk
Mixed gpp tapi harus ada support staff yang bener. Full Indo ideal.
PRX kan... fluent dalam Inggris. Mereka g reliant sm Alecks untuk nge comms.
Ya kali Indo/PH g bisa bahasa inggris. Kadang butuh waktu tapi ya g mungkin terlalu susah.
Honestly I won't comment on that since I heard it live as well but I just let out a small chuckle and a disappointed sigh. If AP got all three after they go UFA is where I'll laugh lol
You know what? I'm contempt with the decision. Is this ideal for the Indonesian fanbase/ecosystem? No. But consider that RRQ PH just won a decent local LAN and looking like one of the best teams in PH, I think the decision to honor their players is commendable.
I think the language barrier for a 3-2 ID/PH roster won't be too much, hopefully. If the technical staff makes the effort to maximize the performance from all the players, then I'm all for it.
Lynch me.
Yes, we added that immediately. Please check the list.
Riot has more than a few years' worth of running franchised leagues. Spanning from North America to the Pacific regions, they've managed to coordinate with their regional offices to maintain the competitiveness and the interest of each league. Were their decisions always perfect? No. I have a few gripes, but as far as I'm concerned, it wasn't as catastrophic.
But with OWL? The entire idea of a city-based league were doomed to begin with. It's not that it wasn't viable — it was too damn risky to run its original plan of a offline home/away game on every city base. They've managed, sure, but goddamn their business decision were the catalyst in the state they are in right now. They also flubbed their handling over their Tier 2 and lower competitions at the start.
I implore you to visit this website: https://valorantesports.com/vct-teams
It explains the criteria Riot had laid out for the partnership teams. Competitiveness isn't everything and not the endgame. Does this mean your favourite team has the chance to implode? Yes. But when one door close, another open.
It's really up to the orgs/teams/players. If we don't have permission, we won't use them.
Orang pada di IG ada yg mulai hashtag boikot Pacific League
G bisa dipastikan fix atau ngga, bestnya kita liat aja dulu
Probably. I won't be surprised if there's going to be another FGC Tournament Circuit for 2023. I hope there's more Chinese tournaments in the offseason too.
Fanbase isn't everything. Financials, the ability to sustain those finances and maintaining the fanbase's interest is ALSO AS IMPORTANT. BOOM has the most PC fanbase? Great! Can they sustain it? Do they have the funds to match? You could make the case that they do deserve it, but come on. RRQ having that much capita makes it more valuable than BOOM.
Meh, get off your high horse. It's politics, but it's still one heck of an effort to get into the league. Orgs were creating 200-page proposals to make their case shown. Efforts will not be ignored by Riot. Same thing here.
As much as it hurts to remember, he has a point. The region parity is not as big as you think.
I mean you can do it. Cultivate an entirely new generation of fanbase, on top of your existing one organically. RRQ has already a good fanbase within Valorant; old ID fans that follow the old team, and the current PH fans with the current roster.
You can have both and have them both co-exist at the same time while creating a crossover.
I didn't say BOOM isn't qualified (match the criteria) for the league, but I'm trying to say that BOOM not going in due to Riot being a dictator is laughable.
Riot being a dictator? HAHA! Truth may be there but please, let me indulge you in their reasoning.
The process was incredibly competitive, and we were humbled by the interest and the overwhelming number of applications we received. The selection spanned months, including a written application, in-depth interviews, and financial reviews. Ultimately, we looked for three things in our new VCT partners:
1 ./// Organizations who share our values of always putting fans first, celebrate our diverse community, and are committed to supporting pros
2 ./// Organizations who have created a strong connection with fans through engaging content, a compelling brand, and an exciting roster
3 .///Organizations who build for the long-term, with a focus on sustainability
It’s worth addressing directly that while we respect and celebrate past competitive performance, it was not a key consideration in our decision - as we instead focused on an organization’s ability to create the most compelling VCT for fans in the future.
Do you know that originally, the rumors suggested it was going to be 5 KOREAN TEAMS? Jesus christ, all were LCK orgs, and 2 out of 5 teams didn't have a Valorant team. Now? 5 from the APAC region (including South Asia), 3 from Korea, and 2 from JP. Yes, Korea has one of the best rapport for Riot events in the Pacific. But that doesn't exactly mean favouritism.
DetonatioN is a Japanese org. They've had historically (with other teams from other games) go for rosters around the KR/JP region. Their LJL team? KR and JP players. Their current Valorant team? The same. Does this mean they will go for the same? Who knows, but it doesn't rule out the possibility of doing so.
They do deserve it. Do you know that APAC was Gen.G and T1's secondary option? They both encapsulate as the Korean org to follow. Internationally proven with fanbases all across the globe.
Well, I can only make guesses, but clearly, Riot chose them for a reason. Is it because they own OneUp and their well beyond financially stable? Internal politics will exist one way or another. It's not like we can ignore it, nor Riot ignoring the worth of RRQ's history and fanbase at the same time. Regardless, let's see what they'll do.
...You do know how the partnership slots work right? As long as RRQ prove themselves to be competitive within the league and able to organically sustain themselves with their financials and fanbase, RRQ can stay as long as they can do those things, to be honest. BOOM has a chance to go through Ascension for now, but I won't be surprised if an expansion slot comes, BOOM is looked into again.
I don't really think so? It's between BOOM and RRQ. And while I admit that BOOM making it in is honestly saddening, RRQ deserves it as much as BOOM does if you look into how Riot wants an org to succeed in the International Leagues. Good capita and investment sources, a diverse and widespread fanbase, and the ability to sustain themselves towards the future. Both match the criteria, both deserved it ideally.
