They're literally new teams coming in. But you can't deny that Weibo looking like a good contender.

Well, are the teams willing to invest in academy rosters? Does it make financial sense for them?

posted about a year ago

And why is that a bad thing? I get outside/import experience is a hot commodity nowadays, but what's wrong with trying to cultivate and develop local talent? Is it looked down upon or what? I thought you guys have pride in wanting a full Indian roster?

posted about a year ago

And I have played Ranked games with Some these players They are not good Compared to other players in GC event
How will they face teams like V1 or G2 Gozen in future If they qualify

By learning. Participating in tournaments, events, playing scrims, and reviewing VODs. I'm not putting any pressure on Phoenix just because you know that Global Esports are willing to invest in a collective roster that had impressed the staff and management in tryouts, and is willing to grow alongside them. The aim of the competition is to win, but an accomplishment of learning means much more than trying to immediately win, especially when you are starting fresh like Phoenix is.

Gen.G doesn't have an academy roster, but they do have an actual talent academy. DRX is recruiting players for their Prospect (Academy) team, but historically it's been barebones. Academy teams work when you have the solid footing and investment to further scout for talents. It's also a bit hard when Academy teams aren't allowed to participate in Challengers, so they'll have to rely on third-party tournaments.

It depends, but looking at the timing, I'd be more inclined to believe that the Chinese league will come later, rather than being shoehorned in just to fit Masters Tokyo's timeline. FGC for now suits the timeframe for the qualification, imo.

posted about a year ago

It's not the Chinese league. It's a separate third-party tournament that has been the main competition in China since 2021.

What you're seeing now is the qualifiers for Act 1. EDG and FPX are invited to the main event of Act 1 here: https://www.vlr.gg/event/1525/fgc-valorant-invitational-2023-act-1

Wdym doesn't care? You do know APAC has the most Challengers league out of all the regions, right? 10 teams dwarf the amount that EMEA and Americas are sending. Even EMEA will only send their Split 2 winners, Americas will send 2 teams each from their respective VCLs to Ascension. APAC, counting for 10 regions, sending each Split 2 winner to Ascension. For now, I think it's enough.

Technically this tournament is related.

posted about a year ago

Thai won't even send a team for SEA Games; the process was too complicated and too short of a timeframe.

PH and SG, idk.

posted about a year ago

Yes

posted about a year ago

Dunno, Singapore just doesn't send the team to the tournament. This isn't the actual SEA Games tournament btw

posted about a year ago

Yeah, but even SEA Games won't have teams from every participating countries

posted about a year ago

Nope, this is a "preseason" tournament for SEA Games.

posted about a year ago

Each league announce theirs separately, EMEA is just the last one who hasn't

Verified on Twitter at this point is a joke to a degree. RRQ isn't verified, hell even DRX isn't verified.

And like I said; their entire accounts are new. We haven't seen a unified Pacific/APAC-centric Valorant esports account since the start of the game's launch, and honestly I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt as with new launches, there'll be stuff to iron out and fix.

posted about a year ago

You're talking as if Pacific was in its dying breath and "desperate" to get into the Indian scene. They're not desperate. They know the scene needs help and Pacific can benefit greatly from the inclusion, barring the amount of interaction they're already getting from SEA, JP, OCE, and KR.

posted about a year ago

Probably just you and a few others.

Compared to Americas and EMEA, Pacific has a different social media target audience. Half of the Pacific's audience isn't even using Twitter consistently, prefering Facebook and Instagram and other alternative social media. The Pacific accounts are also very new compared to the Americas and EMEA accounts, and clearly trying to learn and adjust their approach towards their audience.

Schedule should be coming soon, according to Jake Sin, Riot Pacific's Esports Lead.

I'm afk rn, I'll have someone handle it

All of the players have prior experience (Yihao probably having the most since he played up until Suning's disbandment) but the rest haven't played since 2020-21 with the exception of Viva coming from CS

posted about a year ago

Yes, as long as HK/TW is their first-time region. If they came from the Chinese scene, they'll be considered as imports.

posted about a year ago

It's public knowledge and law, everybody can access it.

As someone wise once said, Cope and Seethe

Thanks for the update! Was wondering.

Only the team that got accepted into Riot's Partnership program.

posted about a year ago

Yeah nah cunt

(I cannot confirm nor deny)

posted about a year ago

Considering Riot, compared to CSGO TOs, had practically cut off any CIS events from their official ecosystem might have an effect.

Also, I don't think it's that deep, no? If it was, we should be hearing the same problems soon from Shao, Suygetsu, or... get this... Redgar's own teammate, right?

I mean, a team that had no expectations, being counted out by everyone and their mothers not to give a fight against KCORP on their first LAN?

They put teams on notice, good showing and learning moment for them and the Chinese scene.

Hi yes I will not sleep

Wow, what a surprise, Valorant is an INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY. Wow. Plus, sometimes some people in the watch party isn't listed. Either that, or it's just an unfortunate situation.

They are so going to get smoked in Advance Stage.

posted about a year ago

They were maybe no namers, but everybody is being put on notice now. Everybody is going to learn their names.

posted about a year ago

No, he's completely missing the point. The article stated that out of the 9 games that are being competed in the SEA Games (including Valorant), each Olympic Committee is only allowed a maximum of 7 games to send representatives.

A bench in Sao Paulo is still a dream for a lot of players.

Warnet/PC Cafes are a decent backbone of entry-level gaming for a lot of mid-lower class people

posted about a year ago

As long as whz is stuck on TOE, he's not going anywhere. People were hyping him up but he alone can't carry that roster. FPX might be overlooked even until now, but they got hot the right moment and the right time.

posted about a year ago

No, they're going to finish the Split. BOBO will formally disband after Split 1

posted about a year ago

Were they throwing though? Also I expected this comment from another certain user

posted about a year ago

Exactly, and there shouldn't be any breaches. People are getting worried for nothing.

posted about a year ago

Not surprised and some people are claiming otherwise despite the clear description right from the written announcements.

posted about a year ago

This is why you read the fine print. As far as I know, this isn't breaking any rules or clauses in Riot's partnership program. GE and S8UL's partnership, per their words:

... announced a strategic partnership, aimed at developing the Valorant Ecosystem in India, pooling together their PC Gaming, Esports and content expertise. This is a reiteration of the commitment both organizations have towards the community & the collaboration which has been a part of the Indian Gaming & Esports industry from its very inception.

... As this strategic alliance marks S8UL’s entry into Valorant, it will leverage the strengths of both organizations and hopefully create opportunities for the budding Valorant players ... While Global Esports has already secured a partnered seat at this prestigious International League, together, S8UL & GE aims to increase VALORANT's footprint in India.

GE and S8UL's partnership is aimed to help VALORANT's ecosystem in India, and by no means this will compromise Global Esports' place within the Pacific League and their stance with Riot.

I have slightly no hopes for the VN scene

posted about a year ago

It's not Riot's fault, in JP's case it's the government's regulations. I assume BR doesn't have such measures?

posted about a year ago

That's for the International Leagues. In the VCL, as long as your roster has the majority players from the home region, it's fair game.

Will update, had a bit of backlog.
