man get off your fuckin high horse. "our intelligence is definitely dwindling" just accept people have preferences
round 15(?) on pearl, prx used a raze satchel into a sage wall to look over to B main from connector and jinggg got a nasty kill with it
the fact that you can have 10 different agents on a map and have it go 15-13 in an APAC (used to be a really bad region) vs EMEA (used to be a really good region) game shows how healthy the current meta is rn
idk what people say, i like when mimi (aevilcat) casts, much better than most of the english casters
bad reactions, not really providing enough entertainment as the other casters imo
i’m sorry, did apac do good at champs? was i watching different games?
name checks out
but yeah apac was pretty bad this champs
Duelist: Yoru
Sentinel: Sage
Initiator: Breach
Controller: Astra
i think he drops +15 and still loses
i'm expecting a PRX 2-1 TL but scream is gonna go +15 over 3 maps and still lose the series

yikes, "heat of the moment" is such a bad excuse. if you cant back your shit up with numbers then don't bring it here
holy shit i never even noticed the r until you said that
can someone explain? all i see in the thread is geometrix saying ratio like some football fan
if this ever happens and SEN wins, i'll be toxic for a whole month
That's because there's 2 NA 1 KR and 1 LATAM 1st seed teams. I'll give riot credit for not giving a potential LATAM round 1 match up, but LATAM (Leviatan and Kru), KR (DRX), JP (ZETA), and BR (LOUD) are all on the same side of the bracket. it seems like they want to do anything possible to avoid a same region UBF (with the exception of EMEA vs EMEA due to 3 potential 2nd seed teams)
i fixed it on my post, thank you
nah, EMEA people are trying to say "it's happened to us too" and shit like that, i'm trying to say that it's happened at EVERY LAN with 2+ NA teams in playoffs. i just want to watch interesting matches, not a repeat of the regional bullshit
there was a 0% chance of a 2 team NA match up to happen
i know this was a joke comment but some brainlets would probably ask this as a serious question
i could, but it would be much lower than NA because EMEA didn't face each other nearly as much.
M3 Berlin: no 1st round matchup and Acend was opposite Gambit and G2
M1 Iceland: no 1st round matchup but G2 and TL could have faced round 2
damn thanks for putting the time and hard work into these calculations, 100T_bdog
nah, they'd rather have different region Grand Finals for a higher viewership which is why there's so many same region round 1 matchups
check edit 2 and 3 for the probability
i didn't think i'd have to do the math, but i guess i will.
#20
TPAB didn't have songs that felt out of place, GKMC did
i don't watch because i want NA to win, i watch international events because i want to see different region matchups. i couldn't care less if the region i was born in wins champs, i just want to be entertained by matchups i haven't seen before
holy fuck do you even read? i listed how many times this has happened (notably in PAST LAN events) and i think the statistics of all of them happening is too high for it not to be planned
those matchups are true and i conceded that, but NA has gotten fucked with brackets WAY more than EMEA. and this isn't me trying to be an NA fanboy, i just want to see other regions face each other. same region matchups are boring and i hate that riot does it to EMEA too
I love how riot claims they randomized the champs playoff bracket, yet in playoffs they put Optic and XSet in the same side of the bracket and have 100T (assuming they qualify) playing either optic or xset round 1.
This isn't the first time they've done this:
It's annoying how Riot claims they randomize all of these playoff brackets, even though they likelyrig the brackets to avoid a same region grand finals for the sake of viewership (not just NA, but all regions). The odds of all 4 of these isolated incidents ending up having a same region matchup round 1 is too unlikely for it to be "random". I just think it's really shitty how disingenuous Riot's been with the brackets at every LAN. Let the 2 best teams get to Grand Finals without outside forces influencing the region matchups.
i'm losing braincells with these bad takes.
"it's happens to EMEA too" (i dont give a fuck who it happens to, i just stated a fact that it happens to NA the most).
"it's not that unlikely" (the same bracket matchups happens too many times. NA vs NA round 1 in the 4th slot BOTH MASTERS?)
people asked for the math, here you go:
Guaranteed NA matchup for first 2 rounds in M3 Berlin: 1/3 (Envy and 100T on same side of bracket) x 1/2 (sentinels playing either Envy or 100T) = 1/6
Round 1 NA matchup in M1 Iceland: (Guard was 1st seed, Optic was 2nd, only 4 potential teams for optic to play against) = 1/4
Round 1 NA matchup in M2 Copenhagen: (XSet was 1st seed, Optic was 2nd, only 4 potential teams for optic to play against) = 1/4
Guaranteed NA matchup for first 2 rounds in Champs 2022: 1/3 (Optic and XSET on same side of bracket) x 1/2 (100T playing against one of them) =1/6
1/6 x 1/6 x 1/4 x 1/4 = 1/576 or 0.17% chance of all of these isolated incidents happening
the raw chance of 1 of these matchups happening isn't what pisses me off, it's the fact that ALL of them have happened and riot claims these brackets are randomized. the only time NA didn't have a round 1 matchup in playoffs was in Masters 2 Iceland, but NO region had a round 1 matchup.
If any mathematician wants to check my work, feel free to do so.
I forgot in M3 SEN had to face another 1st seed that wasn't G2, so it should be 1/3 * 2/3 = 1/3 (same applies to this years champs with 100T and DRX)
1/3 x 1/3 x 1/3 x 1/3 = 1/81 or 1.2%. credit to Noodle for pointing out the discrepancy
saw yoru, clicked, and liked
well done netero spookmeister
i meant nice math cause you wrote furia as #17 when there's only 16 teams
holy shit good take ricky
i kinda had a right prediction, people instantly started saying FPX is washed
but i do agree that XSET could place top 4 this champs, they really showed improvement since masters 2
https://www.vlr.gg/135466/recency-bias
i agree with you, HOWEVER
i think fpx losing to xset shows how little fpx was able to adapt to their playstyle. xset won breeze way too easily.
i agree with most of this but idk about xset #1 at the moment. yesterday showed that they can be #1 and can win champs, when previously most (including me) thought they had no chance whatsoever. i'd put them tied with fpx, we'll see how they deal w kru tomorrow
