This one hurts to write. This one hurts a lot

-100T have had a complete rework, overhauling their entire roster, coaching, and management. Asuna is the only remaining player
-C9 were 3-1 against 100T going into this match

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Leaf vs Asuna: The two raze mains, Asuna walked over leaf most of the match, going 6-3 against his enemy. In their last meeting, Asuna went 8-6 vs leaf
-bang vs vanity: Bang had a phenomenal series, going 6-5 against Vanity
-xeppaa vs derrek: Overwatch himself was also all over xeppaa, going 7-3 against him.

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, THE FRAGS

-Everyone in the server except for will and vanity played 2 different agents

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Bang put up an astonishing 38% HS, despite mostly using the phantom, and 52% on ascent
-Despite winning both maps, 100T were -1 on opening kills overall
-Xeppaa had a strong defense side on Fracture, going 13/7/3, and going 4-1 on FK/FD
-Mitch and curry both won 1vX's, with curry winning a 1v2 and mitch winning a 1v3, with both on fracture
-Will had a phenomenal first half on Ascent, going 18/5 on attack as Chamber
-All of C9's matches have been 2-0's

LOOKING AHEAD
-100T will face Faze in the Bo5 lower final, and will have Guard waiting for them in the Grand Final should they win
-C9 are out of Champions contention, but were confirmed to be in the next round of franchising (They also play in the MCT playoffs next week and thats way more important than VCT anyway)

FaZe stock went down 2 points, and Faze valorant went down to the lower bracket

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER CHANGES
-The last time these teams met was in the upper bracket RO32 in the first opener qualifier, with Guard winning 2-1
-Faze have swapped shotup for supamen, and larrybanks for poised. Guard have not made any roster changes

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Dicey vs Sayaplayer: the two star oppers, Dicey was just barely edged out by sayaplayer, going 10-11 against him. Sayaplayer had the better of Dicey this time, going 6-3
-flyuh vs valyn: flyuh went 5-4 against valyn in this matchup, as compared to going 7-8 last time

THE MAPS, THE FRAGS, THE ROUNDS
-Guard have an 80% winrate on icebox, and were 19-5 going in
-Both teams split pistols, winning 2 each
-Valyn had the most 2Ks in the server, with 7
-Sayaplayer had the most 3Ks with 4
-Sayaplayer, neT, dicey, and POISED all had 4Ks
-Seven players in the server had played two agents, the other three only played one

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Sayaplayer went an astonishing 10-0 on op kills throughout the series
-This is the first series Dicey has went negative in since Feburary, a total of 30 series
-All of Guard went positive, and all of Faze went negative
-on Haven, trent had a 94% KAST, suggesting there was 1 round he did not get a kill, assist, survive, or trade
-Guard as a whole went +12 in Faze against openers
-This is the 6th time Icebox has been played in LCQ.
-Split is the only map that has yet to be played (and split is in the map pool for LCQ still)
-I was told that this match had the lowest viewership of all the LCQ matches, but I have no way of confirming this, so take it with a grain of salt.

LOOKING AHEAD
-FaZe will need to win two Bo5s to make champions: one against the winner of C9/100T, and the other against Guard
-Guard only need to win 3 maps to make champions
-Guard have only dropped one map on their way to the upper bracket, with that map being against Sentinels

I know yall were waiting for this one

LAST MEETING AND ROSTER CHANGES
-Last time these teams met was in the grand finals of Stage 3 challengers, with SEN winning 3-1
-Since their last meeting, 100T have overhauled their roster with Asuna being the only remaining player. SEN have also swapped Zombs for Shroud and SicK for Zellsis
-Sen have been 7-0 against 100T since first strike

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Will vs Tenz: The two lead oppers, Tenz went an astonishing 21-10 against Will.
-Bang vs Shroud: Between the vet and the rookie, Bang more or less rolled Shroud throughout the series, going 17-7 against his counter
-Stellar vs Shahzam: Stellar went 13-11 against Shahz, and also had more kills on Shahz than anyone else
-There aren't many previous head to heads between these rosters, given all the roster moves

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, THE FRAGS
-100T won 5 of the 6 pistols
-This was the first time Sentinels have played Haven with Shroud and Zellsis
-Shahz, Will, and Zellsis all led the servers in 2Ks, with 11

-Bang, Derrek, Tenz, and Zellsis all had 4Ks, with Tenz having 4

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Derrek put up an incredible 36% HS
-On Fracture, Shroud went 3-0 on openers
-Tenz went an astonishing 16-5 on FK/FD
-Asuna performed significantly better on Attack than Defense

LOOKING AHEAD
-100T will go on to play the winner of C9/NRG tomorrow. They need to win 3 more matches to make Champions
-SEN are out for the remainder of the season. They were reported to be in for the next round of franchising

posted about 2 years ago

SicK, Sen's former flex and smokes player, has been off the roster since late may due to external reasons. However, Sen seem to be gelling quite well with Zellsis and Shroud. Although its unclear if Zellsis and Shroud will be staying after LCQ or if its contingent on getting into franchising, do you think SicK still has a place in the roster for Sentinels? Will they allow him to explore other options? Will he stop competing entirely?

This is all speculation I just want to hear other opinions on this

I took a look at 100T vs Faze, the storylines going in, and the match outcome

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER CHANGES
-Both these teams squared off fairly recently, in the second lower bracket round of playoffs. In their last meeting, FaZe won 2-1
-FaZe would go on to place 3rd in playoffs. 100T would exit in 5th
-Both teams have not made any roster moves

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Bang vs Supamen: In their last matchup, Bang went 7-6 against supamen. This time around, supamen went 8-7 against bang
-Babybay vs Will: In their previous meeting, will edged out Babybay, going 12-11 against him. In their rematch, Babybay pulled ahead, going 13-10

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, THE FRAGS
-In terms of winrate, Haven is 100T's worst map with 29% (with this roster)
-100T won 4 of the 6 pistols
-supamen and flyuh led the server in 2ks, with 11
-babybay led the server in 3ks and 4ks, with 5 and 4 respectively
-Derrek had the most 1v1 clutches, with 7
-Everybody except for Dicey played exactly 2 agents, Dicey only played Chamber

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Dicey continues his streak of positive series
-Will had a very rough attack half, only getting 8 kills on attack through all 3 maps
-Throughout the series, Dicey went 16-1 in op duels
-Will also went 0-7 on openers on attack, with all 7 deaths being to Dicey
-Babybay had the defensive performance of a lifetime on ascent, putting up a 20/2 KD, 313 ADR, and 505 ACS
-For reference, babybay had more kills the second half of ascent (20) than all of 100T combined (16)

LOOKING AHEAD
-100T will play Sentinels in the lower bracket next week. This is the first time the teams have met in nearly a year
-FaZe will play Guard in the upper bracket final. The two teams have only played once, in the Upper Ro32 in January
-100T will need to win 4 consecutive matches to make champions
-FaZe will need to win at least 2 consecutive matches to make champions

I took a look at the storylines and stats of the Sentinels vs SR match, here's what I found

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER MOVES
-The last time these two teams met was in the first week of challengers 2, where SR would win 2-1
-SR would go on to make playoffs, but exit in last place. Sen would go 0-5 in the group stage, and their map win against SR would be their only map win of the group stage
-Sen have since swapped Kanpeki for Zellsis, and Shroud has stepped in for SicK due to family and mental health challenges.
HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-bdog vs Tenz: In their last meeting, bdog went 20-15 against his rival opper. In the rematch, bdog still held his own, going 8-7 against Tenz
-moose vs Shroud: These two smokes players have never met before, but moose consistently got the better of shroud throughout the series, going 7-3 against him
-Zellsis vs mada: mada was able to edge out Zellsis, going 9-8 despite a poor map one. The last time these two squared off (back when Zellsis was on V1), mada went 16-12 against Zellsis

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, AND THE FRAGS
-Sentinels were 9-3 on Breeze going into todays match. With this win, it is now their highest winrate map at 77%
-Sentinels won 3 of the 4 pistols
-Tenz and Shahzam led the server in 2Ks, both with 10
-Zellsis led the server in 3Ks with 6, 5 of which where on fracture
-Everyone except for bdog, TiGG, and Tenz played 2 different agents

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Zellsis put up an astonishing 12-3 FK/FD on Fracture, and 15-6 overall. It was also his first match on Neon
-Throughout the entire series, Moose never died first
-bdog went 12-0 on op kills
-Shroud put up an astonishing 43% HS on breeze
-This is Sentinel's first win against SR in 2022, and first win since May 8th vs Akrew in the open qualifier
-dapr had more plants than shroud (FINALLY)

LOOKING AHEAD
-SEN will play the loser of 100T/FaZe. Sentinels have not played a match with 100T in almost a year (last meeting 8/15/2021)
-SR are eliminated from LCQ. SR also publicly announced they did not make it into the valorant partner program/franchising, so the rosters future is unknown
-SEN will need to win 4 consecutive matches to qualify for champions

I took a look at the storylines and matchups leading into C9 vs Guard and the result of the match itself. Sorry for any typos or formatting errors, I'm writing this post on my phone

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER MOVES
-The last time these two teams met was in the LBF of Challengers 1 playoffs for a spot in Iceland. Guard won 3-0
-C9 have since swapped xeta for curry, and overhauled their coaching staff
-Both teams failed to make playoffs in Stage 2

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Please note that the numbers from their last meeting may be slightly inflated, since their last meeting was a Bo5
-Xeppaa vs Jonahp: Jonahp went 7-3 against his counter flex, Xeppaa. In their last meeting, Xeppaa got the better of Jonahp, going 11-8 against him
-Leaf vs Sayaplayer: Despite the 2-0 win, Sayaplayer was consistently losing to leaf, going 6-11 against the enemy duelist. Leaf also topped Saya in their last encounter, going 16-11 against his counter
-Mitch vs neT: between the two (fairly underrated) sentinels, neT got the better of Mitch, going 5-3 in fights, a huge turnaround from the 6-13 deficit he put against Mitch in their last encounter.

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, THE FRAGS
-Guard were on a 3 game loss streak on fracture, that has been broken today
-Guard won 3 of the 4 pistols
-Valyn led the server in 2Ks, with 11
-Vanity lef the server in 3Ks, with 4
-6 players in the server played 2 agents, the remaining 4 only played 1

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Everyone in the server had less than 150 adr overall
-Every Guard player had less than 140 adr overall
-neT went positive against every player of C9 except for Leaf, who he went 8-8 against
-Mitch was 4-1 against Saya on Op duels, and 6-2 on openers overall
-Vanity and Valyn had a total of 26 fights throughout the series, the most between any two players in the server. Vanity was ahead, going 16-11 against Valyn despite the loss

LOOKING AHEAD
-C9 will play the winner of the NRG/EG game, both teams
they have beaten in the past, albeit not with curry. They will need to win 4 consecutive games to make it to Champions
-Guard will play the winner of the 100T/Faze game. They are 2 wins away from Champions

ADDITIONAL NOTE
-This was the first match of LCQ I didn't get to watch at all, and I likely wouln't be able to watch SEN v SR either. Most of this analysis is based on stats and history, but I wanted to put it out there.

I looked at the storylines going into C9 v SR and analysis of what happened during it

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER CHANGES
-The last time these two teams met was in the group stages of Challengers 2, with SR taking the 2-0 win
-C9 would fail to make it out of groups, SR would bomb out of playoffs after starting in the lower bracket
-Neither team has made a roster change since their last encounter

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Leaf vs mada: mada fell short of leaf, going 7-9 against the rival duelist flex. In their last encounter, leaf went 13-5 against mada, despite losing 2-0
-Mitch vs bdog: In their last meeting, bdog went 6-9 against mitch. In this rematch the pair broke even going 10-10, and even 2-2 on op kills

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, AND THE FRAGS
-SR have a 62% WR on Fracture, it is also their least played maps (possible recency bias)
-Both teams split their pistols, with SR winning 2 and C9 winning 2
-This match had a lot of ecos, with C9 winning 3 and SR winning 4 across both maps
-Leaf led the server in 2Ks, with 10
-bdog led the server in 3Ks, with 5
-vanity, leaf, and xeppaa all had 4k rounds at some point in the series
-with the exceptions of vanity, mitch, and bdog, everyone in the server played 2 agents

ADDITIONAL STATS
-bdog put up an impressive 14/6 FK/FD
-all successful clutches from SR were by moose (two 1v1s and one 1v2)
-Xeppaa did not die first or get a first blood on ascent. Vanity did the same on fracture
-leaf and vanity went positive against every player on SR except for BDOG
-moose put up an impressive 40% HS on ascent
-bdog on fracture had incredible stats for attacking: 404 acs, 252 adr, 25/10 KD, and 5-0 on openers (this includes attack OT rounds)
-C9 won half their OT rounds by sticking the bomb due to late molly lineups

LOOKING AHEAD
-C9 will play the Guard tomorrow for a spot in the upper bracket final
-SR will play Sentinels tomorrow to keep their chance at Champions alive

I know these articles come at weird times sometimes, so if you want a way of knowing when I post them or want to find them long after the match is over, I've linked my twitter below. I'll link the writeups as soon as they're done.

I looked at the storylines going into 100T v NRG and analysis of what happened during it

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER MOVES
-The last time these two teams clashed was in Week 4 of challengers 2, with 100T winning 2-0
-100T would go on to place 5th-6th, NRG would place 4th
-Neither team has made any roster moves, although s0m is now playing more flex than duelist

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Derrek vs eeiu: both regarded as some of the better initiators in NA, Derrek outperformed eeiu going 10-7 against his counter. In their last meeting, Derrek was 6-2
-Tex vs Will: Tex was able to out-op and out-aim Will consistently throughout the series, going 16-8 against Will overall, and 5-1 in Op kills. In their last meeting, Will was 5-9 against Tex
-s0m vs Asuna: s0m struggled against Asuna this series, going 10-14 overall. In their last matchup, s0m went 3-8 against Asuna

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, AND THE FRAGS
-100T are 7-1 on Bind with their current roster. They also beat NRG on Bind in their previous matchup
-NRG won 2 of the 6 pistols
-Bang, s0m, and eeiu all led the server with 2Ks (12)
-Ethan led the server in 3Ks (5)
-Everybody in the server played at least 2 agents. Hazed, Ethan, and Bang all played 3

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Ethan was, to put it blatantly, owning his ex-teammate Asuna, going 15-4 in H2H
-Derrek performed significantly better on Attack (37/19/10) as opposed to defense (16/15/14)
-In contrast, Asuna performed better on Defense (34/25/13) as opposed to attack (21/27/14)
-Tex went 15/6 on FK/FD across the series
-Will had more kills in the second half of Ascent (14) than he did on any other map, total

LOOKING AHEAD
-100T will be playing Faze on Sunday. In their previous matchup, Faze were victorious
-NRG will be playing EG Sunday, another team they have previously beat

ADDITIONAL WRITEUPS
SEN v GRD: https://www.vlr.gg/125228/sen-v-grd-facts-and-analysis
EG v FAZE: https://www.vlr.gg/125565/eg-vs-faze-facts-and-analysis
C9 v SR will be coming later tonight!

posted about 2 years ago

Sorry for the delay on this one! I looked at the storylines going into EG v FAZE and analysis of what happened during it.

LAST MEETINGS
-These two teams last met in Week 5 of Challengers 2, with Faze taking home the 2-0
-Faze would go on to place 3rd in playoffs, EG would place 5th
-Neither team has made a roster move since their last encounter

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Dicey vs Boostio: The last time these two teams met, Dicey had Boostio's number the entire series, going 11-3 against the opposing chamber. Their rematch was much more balanced, with the pair breaking even at 18-18 against each other. However, Dicey was 8-2 vs Boostio in OP duels
-Babybay vs Jawgemo: In their previous meeting, babybay edged out Jawgemo 8-7, but in their rematch Jawgemo took the upper hand, going 19-13 vs Babybay

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, AND THE FRAGS
-EG won 5 of the 6 pistol rounds
-Dicey led the server in 2Ks (20). Interestingly, his multikill round where he got more than 2 kills was an ace
-Babybay and Supamen were tied for most 3Ks at 5
-Reformed held the most clutched with 2 1v2s
-On Faze, three players played only one agent. On EG, all their players played at least 2 agents, with Jawgemo plying 3

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Despite Boostio putting up remarkable numbers on the agent, Phoenix has still yet to win a match in NA in 2022. The last time (as far as I could find) that Phoenix won a match in NA was in Rise's match against 100T in the upper final of the 2021 LCQ (https://www.vlr.gg/43770/100-thieves-vs-rise-champions-tour-north-america-last-chance-qualifier-ubf/?game=53299&tab=overview)
-Supamen's 87 kills across 3 maps is the most kills from a controller player in a Bo3 in 2022
-Dicey continues his hot streak of positive series. The last time Dicey went negative was in Feburary this year against TSM (https://www.vlr.gg/71848/tsm-vs-faze-clan-yfp-winter-classic-sf)
-Supamen was shutting down EGs star fraggers, going 21-11 vs Jawgemo and 25-9 vs Boostio
-Both teams were up 8-4 on their opponents map pick and still lost the map

LOOKING AHEAD
-Faze will play the winner of the NRG 100T match scheduled for later today. EG will play the loser of that match
-EG will have to run through the lower bracket in order to have a shot at champs, needing to win 5 consecutive matches
-Faze will need to win at least 3 matches to qualify for champions

Seeing as these stats and mini articles are being taken relatively well, I'll be doing another one for 100T v NRG following the conclusion of the match later today

I looked at the storylines going into SEN v GUARD and analysis of what happened during it. If enough people enjoy these, I'll be more than happy to do one of these for Faze v EG

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER MOVES
-Last time these teams met was in the playoffs of Challengers 1, Guard won 2-0 in dominant fashion. Guard would go on to place #1 in playoffs
-Sentinels have since swapped Zombs and SicK for Shroud and Zellsis. Kanpeki also had a brief stint on the roster throughout Challengers 2
-Both teams have fallen from their prior form in Challengers 1

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Saya vs Tenz: The last time these two opers clashed, Saya went +1 over Tenz, but significantly outperformed Tenz with 331 ACS, compared to Tenz' 155. In the rematch, Tenz went +1 over Saya and put up 205 ACS, compared to 204 ACS. It is also worth noting both players have gone from playing the duelist/frag role to chamber.
-JonahP vs Zellsis: These two top tier flex players have never squared off in an official match, and Zellsis topped JonahP in the head to head, going +5 against his counter, but JonahP pulled a higher ACS, KDA, ADR, and FK/FD. Zellsis also only played KAY/O, despite being a flex player.

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, AND THE FRAGS
-Breeze are normally Guard's permaban. They have only played the map in an official twice prior to todays match: once against OpTic in a Bo5 GF, and the other in a consolation final vs DZ (they also won both those maps)
-Sentinels won 4 of the 6 total pistols
-Shahz and Trent were tied for most 2Ks (15)
-Zellsis and Trent were tied for most 3Ks (7)
-Across all maps, JonahP performed significantly better on Defense (37/26/11) compared to attack (19/25/19)
-All players on Guard played 2 or more agents, three players on Sen only played one agent

BONUS SHROUD STATS
-Shroud planted the bomb the most out of anyone in the server (15)
-Trent was 17-0 vs Shroud going into icebox, and finished the series 22-3 vs Shroud (which I believe is the biggest h2h differential in a match)
-Shroud finished the series with 157 ACS. Compared to other Viper and Astra players throughout Stage 1 and 2 (with min 50 rounds played), Shroud outperformed these players:
Stage 1: Frosty, hazed, ec1s, wippie
Stage 2: Apoth, Rossy, neT, TiGG, moose, hazed

If anyone wants to hear additional stats or has recommendations for sections I could add, feel free to comment them. This is looking almost entirely at stats and I mean no disrespect to any of the players on either team.

original thread: https://www.vlr.gg/77044/thescore-cursing-valorant-players

A few months ago i made this thread about thescore esports cursing players: whenever they make a video on a player, they dramatically drop in performance, relevance, or fall short of expectations on the big stage

some additions
-Trent
-SicK (didnt really fall off but he did leave the scene)
-f0rsaken, or even paper rex as a whole

gray areas
-paper rex undoubtedly performed on the big stage and exceeded expectations, but fell short in finals
-FNS had a video made for him, but his performance has remained the same. However, FNS wasn't putting up eye popping numbers to begin with
-yay had his first bad series on optic, but the video made on him is nearly a year old
-XSET had a video about them but its more of a preview for copenhagen

feel free to add any addition you know of

With Copenhagen now behind us, I decided to look through every series and look at the top performing player in each series from the event. I also tallied additional stats such as ACS, KDA, and Agent(s) played from this top player. From finding the top performing player from each match, we can create a list of top performers at Copenhagen, based on how often they led the lobby in ACS, and by how much

Additional note: ACS and strictly numbers is certainly not the only way to look at a player's impact, and some teams and players had more matches played than others (i.e FPX vs PRX). Therefore, most of the data here should be taken with a grain of salt as a way of highlighting a player, rather than the entire team. The bolded team indicates who won the match.

Group Stage:

DRX v NTP
Top player: Rb
ACS: 273
KDA: 32/19/9
Agents Played: Jett, Raze

LOUD v KRU
Top player: keznit

Agents Played: Raze, KAY/O

OpTic v Guild

I expected them to be good but not "has only ever lost 3 matches with all of them being at international events" good

posted about 2 years ago

I made a list of things I wouldn't believe if you told me them 6 months ago (feel free to add to them)

-100T would drop their new pickups after 2 matches
-The Guard would rise and fall in a matter of 4 months
-Faze and the smeag would return
-Neon would become meta
-Sen would sign Shroud as a player
-TSM would lose to mocking & Lenny time (with zander filling)
-M3C/GMB and Acend would both not attend a single masters
-V1 would have a 5-0 group stage
-Jett and Sova would essentially disappear
-ZETA would place top 4 at masters
-Xeta and Curry would swap teams
-C9 and Sentinels both become irrelevant
-LOUD would absolutely destroy the Brazilian competition
-LG would leave valorant entirely
-TSM would make it into groups
-Zellsis would get verified signed to sentinels

Just an idea for a BLAST tournament that runs seperate from VCT, similar to the blast world final in CS

3 qualifying tournaments: one after each masters and one after LCQ

16 team group stage into single elim bracket based on VLR ranking at time of tournament, invite only, NOT REGION LOCKED

Winner of each qualifier goes to world final (equivilant of champions for blast). Runner ups from 2nd-8th awarded circuit points used for BLAST LCQ.

Following VCT champions, LCQ held between 4 highest placing teams with circuit points. Winner qualifies for world final. World final would be as follows:

Qualifier 1 winner
Qualifier 2 winner
Qualifier 3 winner
BLAST LCQ winner
VCT champions winner
VCT champions runner up
Redbull HG winner
NSG Summer winner

All 8 teams would play in a single elim bracket as the final tournament of the year, feel like it would be fun to watch especially with BLAST's production quality.

In the event a team has multiple titles (i.e they win qualifier 2 and Redbull HG) then the runner up of the more recent tournament qualifies

posted about 2 years ago

I saw a thread earlier suggesting how NA franchising will be broken up. Heres my proposition

TLDR
-2 splits + LCQ, same as now
-3 international tournaments (two masters one champions)
-4 regions, All of Americas, EMEA, APACN, APACS
-Groups -> Playoffs, top seeds qualify to regional bracket to qualify for masters, lower seeds play through groups similar to how Masters is formatted now
-16 teams at masters, 24 at champions with play-ins
-Bottom seeds from each group go into relegation with highest seed from regional leagues/VRLs

Disclaimer
-I'm unsure of logistical issues such as bringing China into the mix, ping issues with BR and LATAMS, or if groups would be played in a studio. This also doesn't account for the formation and qualification process for VRLs
-Ideally, all playoff matches would be on LAN

Region 1: Americas, broken down into North and South (kinda)
North: NA/LATAMN
-8 slots NA, 4 slots LATAMN
-2 groups, top 6 teams advance to Americas playoff qualifier, top seeds from each group start in playoffs
-Bottom seed sent to relegation against top seed from VRL/Region leagues
South: BR/LATAMS
-6 slots BR, 6 slots LATAMS
-2 groups, top 6 teams advance to Americas playoff qualifier, top seeds from each group start in playoffs
-Bottom seed sent to relegation against top seed from VRL/Region leagues
Playoffs:
-Lower 8 teams go through double elimination group stage
-upper 4 teams seeded into SINGLE ELIM playoff bracket (same as Masters now but playoffs is single elim), Top 4 teams go to masters

Region 2: EMEA
West: Area covered by VRLs in Germany, Spain, France, North Europe
-12 teams, two groups of six
-Top 8 teams advance, top seed from each group advance to playoffs
-Bottom seed sent to relegation from VRL (sort of like how it is now)
East: Area covered by VRLs in Turkey, MENA, CIS, and Eastern Europe
-12 teams, two groups of six
-Top 8 teams advance, top seed from each group advance to playoffs
-Bottom seed sent to relegation from VRL
Playoffs:
-12 lower teams split into 4 groups in double round robins, top seed qualifies for bracket (kind of like Group D at Berlin last year when bren had visa issues)
-Upper teams seeded into single elim bracket, Top 4 teams go to masters

Region 3: Asia North: KR, JP, China(?),
-6 slots each (18 teams total)
-Groups split into three groups of six, no more than 3 teams from one region in each group
-Top seeds from each group automatically qualify for masters, play in single round robin for seeding
-Bottom seeds from each group play against top seed from VRLs for relegation

Region 4: Asia South: APAC, Oceania, SA
APAC:
-Twelve teams, two groups of six, top 8 teams seeded into playoffs
-Teams seeded into double elimination bracket, top 3 teams qualify for masters
Oceania
-Eight teams, two groups of four, top 4 teams seeded into playoffs
-Teams seeded into double elimination bracket, top 1 team qualifies for masters
SA
-Eight teams, two groups of four, top 4 teams seeded into playoffs
-Teams seeded into double elimination bracket, top 1 team qualifies for masters
-All qualified teams play against each other in single round robin for seeding

Masters would look like:
-Four from LATAM/NA/BR
-Four from EMEA
-Four from China/JP/KR
-Four from APAC/SA/OCE

Champions would look like (off of circuit points)
-T4 LATAM/NA/BR
-T4 EMEA
-T4 China/JP/KR
-T4 APAC/SA/OCE
-VCC/SA circuit winner (if two different teams with between splits then there is a qualifying match)
-OCE Tour winner
-GC global winner
-Redbull Campus Clutch winner (collegiate val global championship)
-Americas LCQ winner
-EMEA LCQ winner
-APACN LCQ winner
-APACS LCQ winner

Total 24 teams

All of the following would be put into a swiss format with the top 8 advancing
-VCC/SA circuit winner (if two different teams with between splits then there is a qualifying match)
-OCE Tour winner
-GC global winner
-Redbull Campus Clutch winner (collegiate val global championship)
-Americas LCQ winner
-EMEA LCQ winner
-APACN LCQ winner
-APACS LCQ winner
-Lower 2 Americas seeds
-Lower 2 EMEA seeds
-Lower 2 APACN seeds
-Lower 2 APACS seeds

-Remaining teams and upper 2 seeds from each region would play through groups
-Top 8 advance into single elim bracket

I looked at every player that is going to Copenhagen and ranked their ACS from highest to lowest
All data is sourced from Spikegg and is from the last 90 days
I did not include any of FPX's subs since there has been no official statement from FPX on whether or not they will field subs
Also worth mentioning ACS does not tell the entire story of a players impact, but its the most commonly used stat

I feel like lately teams have been really mixing up their team comps and tossing in weirder picks like yoru, fade, neon, breach, etc. especially on maps were not used to seeing those agents on.

Honestly I think it makes pro way more fun to watch, I remember when the definitive meta was astra jett sova kj/cypher and then 1 flex, although chamber being a constant pick does kill this a little.

Good job rito

I did an analysis on all the teams set to attend Masters 2 in Copenhagen, and specifically looked at the results of teams with the current iteration of their rosters.
This means looking at results from the time of the last roster change, i.e FNATIC will be analyzed from after the addition of Alfajer, which all of stage 2, and OpTic will be analyzed from after the addition of yay, which was from stage 3 challengers last year.
I understand this may create some bias due to some teams being together for longer and thus having more achievements, but I felt it was important to highlight the achievements of teams that have been together for a long time
Previous masters attended only includes the current iteration of the roster (hence FNATIC has 0)
Roster moves will not include substitutes or changes in coaching staff
Since the BR/LATAM LCQ hasn't happened yet, I'll be analyzing both teams

FNATIC:
Last roster change: +Alfajer, May 1 2022
Noteable Achievements: 5-0 Group Stage, undefeated since addition of Alfajer, #1 EMEA Seed going into Copenhagen
Most recent loss: Currently undefeated with this roster
Previous Masters events attended: 0
Time roster has been together: 57 days

Guild
Last roster change: +Russ, +Trex, +koldamenta, January 7 2022

Most recent loss: FPX in LBF playoffs
Previous Masters events attended: 0
Time roster has been together: 171 days

FPX
Last roster change: +ardiis, December 12 2021

(FPX were unable to attend Masters 1 due to the russia-ukraine conflict)

LOUD
Last roster change: No roster changes since inception (Feburary 3 2022)
Noteable Achievements: #1 BR Seed at Iceland, #1 BR Seed at Copenhagen, have only lost 2 maps domestically

Previous Masters events attended: 1
Time roster has been together: 144 days
Additional Note: out of the 59 maps LOUD have played, they have only lost 7; 1 to HL, 1 to MIBR, 1 to Liquid, and 4 to OpTic

I took some time to analyze all the players on NA VCT playoffs teams and where they were last year.
Unlike my previous writeups, this exams the players, not the organizations and the players that were on them this time last year.
All data will be taken from July 1, the first day of Stage 3 challengers last year. I chose to do this since a lot of these rosters mixed up their players between Stage 2 and Stage 3, and most contracts were not signed until late June.

I looked at a bunch of VCT matches from the 2021 VCT season and looked at the % of times the team that came from the lower final ended up winning in the grand final
I chose to look at VCT 2021 since it was more bracket based, resulting in more lower and grand finals
This only looks at NA, and covers all of Stages 1,2 and 3, as well as Iceland (but not Berlin or Champs)
The team coming from the lower final is denoted with an (L)

Stage 1

Challengers 1: (L)Sentinels v Immortals, Sentinels win
Challengers 2: (L)Sentinels v Envy, Envy win
Challengers 3: (L)100T v Faze, Faze win
Masters 1: (L)Faze v Sen, Sen win

Stage 2
Challengers 1: (L)XSET v 100T, 100T win
Challengers 2: (L)Sentinels v C9, Sen win
Challengers finals: (L)V1 v Sen, Sen win
Iceland: (L)Fnatic v Sen, Sen win

Stage 3
Challenger 1: (L)Sen v XSET, Sen win
Challenger 2: (L)Faze v TSM, TSM win
Challengers finals: (L)100T v Sen, Sen win

LCQ
(L)Cloud9 v Rise, Cloud9 win

Lower bracket winrate: 4/13 31%
Upper bracket winrate: 9/13, 69%
