Sorry for the delay on this one! I looked at the storylines going into EG v FAZE and analysis of what happened during it.
LAST MEETINGS
-These two teams last met in Week 5 of Challengers 2, with Faze taking home the 2-0
-Faze would go on to place 3rd in playoffs, EG would place 5th
-Neither team has made a roster move since their last encounter
HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Dicey vs Boostio: The last time these two teams met, Dicey had Boostio's number the entire series, going 11-3 against the opposing chamber. Their rematch was much more balanced, with the pair breaking even at 18-18 against each other. However, Dicey was 8-2 vs Boostio in OP duels
-Babybay vs Jawgemo: In their previous meeting, babybay edged out Jawgemo 8-7, but in their rematch Jawgemo took the upper hand, going 19-13 vs Babybay
THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, AND THE FRAGS
-EG won 5 of the 6 pistol rounds
-Dicey led the server in 2Ks (20). Interestingly, his multikill round where he got more than 2 kills was an ace
-Babybay and Supamen were tied for most 3Ks at 5
-Reformed held the most clutched with 2 1v2s
-On Faze, three players played only one agent. On EG, all their players played at least 2 agents, with Jawgemo plying 3
ADDITIONAL STATS
-Despite Boostio putting up remarkable numbers on the agent, Phoenix has still yet to win a match in NA in 2022. The last time (as far as I could find) that Phoenix won a match in NA was in Rise's match against 100T in the upper final of the 2021 LCQ (https://www.vlr.gg/43770/100-thieves-vs-rise-champions-tour-north-america-last-chance-qualifier-ubf/?game=53299&tab=overview)
-Supamen's 87 kills across 3 maps is the most kills from a controller player in a Bo3 in 2022
-Dicey continues his hot streak of positive series. The last time Dicey went negative was in Feburary this year against TSM (https://www.vlr.gg/71848/tsm-vs-faze-clan-yfp-winter-classic-sf)
-Supamen was shutting down EGs star fraggers, going 21-11 vs Jawgemo and 25-9 vs Boostio
-Both teams were up 8-4 on their opponents map pick and still lost the map
LOOKING AHEAD
-Faze will play the winner of the NRG 100T match scheduled for later today. EG will play the loser of that match
-EG will have to run through the lower bracket in order to have a shot at champs, needing to win 5 consecutive matches
-Faze will need to win at least 3 matches to qualify for champions
Seeing as these stats and mini articles are being taken relatively well, I'll be doing another one for 100T v NRG following the conclusion of the match later today
