MATCH OUTCOME
Haven: PRX 13-15 TL
Pearl: PRX 13-4 TL
Ascent: PRX 8-13 TL

PRIOR INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
-PRX have been to every international lan of 2022, and are coming off of a 2nd place finish in Copenhagen
-This is TL's international debut with this roster fresh out of LCQ, but they are no strangers to the international stage, after an appearance from Iceland.

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Jinggg vs ScreaM: The two star duelists, scream and jinggg broke even, going 11-11 against each other
-Jamppii vs f0rsaken: between the two oppers, jamppi got the better of f0rsaken, going 16-9 against f0rsaken
-benaki vs dimasick: dimasick was 8-5 against benkai

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, THE FRAGS
-Liquid and PRX have the same winrate on haven, 72%
-PRX won 4 of the 6 pistols
-ScreaM and f0rsaken led the server in 2Ks with 11
-Jamppi had the most 3Ks with 4
-Jinggg and Jamppi led the server in 4ks with 2
-Only two players played 3 agents
-5 players played 2 agents
-the remaining 3 players played 1 agent

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Jinggg had a whopping 30 kills on Reyna, his best performance on the agent so far this year
-Jamppi was 9-1 on openers on Haven
-Nivera was 7-1 on openers on Ascent, as KAY/O
-PRX have a 100% winrate on pearl (across two matches)
-ScreaM had an 18% HS on pearl, one of the lowest he has ever recorded
-dv4v1 never died first or got a first blood on defense across the series
-dimasick had a 51% HS on haven
-Despite the loss, PRX won more gun rounds (24) than liquid did (21)

LOOKING AHEAD
-PRX are eliminated from Champions. Their fate for 2023 is unknown
-Liquid are the 5th time qualified for playoffs, and will face OpTic in the quarterfinals in front of a crowd

edit:
There were a lot of mistakes in this article that I've since corrected, such as a stat about Reyna's winrate on Haven that was incorrect, or stating dimasick was the IGL of liquid (bevause I honestly thought ScreaM being IGL was just a meme). I've been writing a lot of these articles under heavy time constraints, and look forward to being able to commit more time to these articles over the weekend.

Every team at champions deserves to be there

I saw this cool writeup on reddit about the champions trophy and thought it was really cool, what follows is a summarized version of the article, but I've linked the full thing here. I strongly encourage you to read it, full credit to u/Awfu1M1n3r

Original read: https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantCompetitive/comments/wwqf66/the_significance_of_the_vct_champions_trophy_shape/

Basically, the two cones on the trophy represent the passing of time. The bottom half represents the past, and the top half represents the future. The center where the two cones meet is the present. Following the present, the cone expands out to an infinite volume, representing all the infinite potential possibilities, i.e any given team winning champions. The reverse is true for the past, with a seemingly infinite amount of possibilities being whittled down to what we have now in the present.

This also means there is a world where SEN wins champs

I never knew this and it kind of invalidates the entire article, so I just put a general edit at the top saying I done goofed. thanks for pointing it out!

posted about 2 years ago

EDIT: user moejkel pointed out that CSGO only counts shots fired that result in kills. Valorant counts all shots that hit, which kind of invalidates this entire article. If you want to read it still, I'll leave it here

TLDR at bottom

In some of my past writeups I noticed how some Valorant players have fairly high headshot percentages, and I wanted to compare these HS% with those of players in CS. I expected CSGO players to have a lower overall HS%, due to factors that makes it's mechanics fundamentally different, such as having definite spray patterns, or the presence of 4 different damage zones. However, the result is not what I expected.

The 5 players with the highest HS from Masters 2 Copenhagen are:
-Pancada: 39%
-SEIDER: 38%
-stax: 36%
-Shao: 35%
-mindfreak: 35%
(via vlr)

The 5 players with the highest HS from IEM Cologne 2022 are:
-b1t: 61.6%
-Twistzz: 61.5%
-fame: 56.6%
-misutaa: 54.7%
-hunter: 54.2%
(via hltv)

This trend of Valorant players having lower HS percentages also continued through LCQs across all regions, with no player getting any higher than 40% HS. Honestly I expected Valorant players to have higher HS% since there are no spray patterns, making headshots all the more important to go for, and also that every pro I watch seems to only click heads and have perfect crosshair placement. However, some possible reasons for this metric include
-Valorant has more vertical movement, requiring flicks up and down that are much harder to hit.
-Valorant also has extremely heavy tagging, making body shots rewarding in some cases
-Some damage dealing ultimate abilities, such as Jett, Neon, and Raze, don't punish the player for going for bodyshots
-Oping is an essential role in Valorant and is sometimes picked up by multiple players. Given the op encourages bodyshots, it could lower ones HS% (However the same argument can be made for CS so im not sure about this one)
-CSGO players are just different

This is outside of my expertise so I am open to criticism on this one. I also must admit that I don't watch professional CSGO the same way I watch professional VALORANT, and that I'm not sure how CSGO's stats collection works as compared to VALORANTs.

TLDR: CS players have a substantially higher HS% than VAL players, not really sure why but might be because of Val's easier mechanics and abilities.

SENTINELS DIED FOR THIS

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER CHANGES
-The last time these teams met was in the first week of Stage 2 challengers, with 100T winning 2-0
-The first time these teams matched up (in stage 1), Guard infamously 13-0'd 100T and sort of caused a roster implosion
-Neither team has made a roster change between their last meetings

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Some numbers may be inflated since this most recent series was 3 maps as opposed to 2
-Will vs Saya: In their last matchup, Saya went 7-3 against Will, and in the rematch still went 9-7 against will
-Asuna vs JonahP: JonahP went 8-10 against Asuna, an improvement from going 4-7 in their last matchup
-Bang vs Valyn: Bang went 5-11 against Valyn despite having a quieter series. In their last matchup, Valyn only went 4-5 vs Bang

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, THE FRAGS
-Since Guard were coming from the upper bracket, they banned 100T's two best maps: Breeze and Bind
-100T won 4 of the 6 pistols
-Asuna led the server in 2Ks with 11
-Derrek led the server in 3Ks with an astonishing 7
-JonahP and Trent both had the only 4Ks in the server, with 1 each. There was no ace in this match
-Will and Trent only played one agent. JonahP, Stellar, and Net both played two. Everyone else played three.

ADDITIONAL STATS
-Of Guard's 30 full buys, they only won 13
-Everyone on 100T except for Asuna had a 1v2 clutch
-Asuna went 11-5 on opening kills in todays match
-Everyone on Guard went negative except for Trent. Everyone on 100T except for Bang went positive
-Derrek went an incredible +19 in K/D
-100T overall played better on Defense than attack. However, 100T also started Defense on every map

OTHER HEAD TO HEADS
-Will was owning JonahP, going 15-5 against him
-Net and Stellar had a close fight, with Stellar going 12-11 against him
-Trent went even or positive against every member of 100T except Stellar, who he went 10-14 against

LOOKING AHEAD
-100T have qualified for Champions, joining XSET and OpTic in Istanbul. According to VLR, matches begin August 31st
-Guard are out for the season. They were confirmed to be in the next round of franchising

These articles have been some decent work, but I kept writing them due to the positive community reception, I continued to write them. I thank everyone who left any kind of feedback, made any comments, or even just took the time to read what I had wrote. FaZe stock is down and FaZe are OUT

LAST MEETINGS AND ROSTER CHANGES
-These two teams have clashed three times across Challengers, with FaZe winning 2 of the 3 matchups
-Neither team has made a roster move, but both faced each other after their roster overhauls
-FaZe beat 100T earlier in this event in the upper bracket semi finals

HIGHLIGHT HEAD TO HEADS
-Will vs Dicey: The two star oppers, in their last matchup will was outclassed so heavily I felt a comparison was not warranted. This time the opposite was true, with Will going 12-7 against Dicey, as compared to Dicey going 11-5 against Will
-Asuna vs Babybay: In their last matchup, babybay went 15-9 vs Asuna. In the rematch, Asuna went 14-8 against babybay
-bang vs supamen: In their previous matchup, supamen went 8-7 against bang. In the rematch, supamen still outside bang, going 9-8

THE MAPS, THE ROUNDS, THE FRAGS
-100T played 2 of the three maps they played against Faze in their last series: Ascent and Breeze. They lost on Ascent and won on breeze previously
-Both teams split pistols, winning 3 each. Faze won both pistols on icebox and still lost the map
-Bang and Derrek led the server in 2Ks, with 10 each
-Asuna and Will led in 3Ks, with 5 each
-Babybay, flyuh, and Will all had 4ks, with babybay having the most at 2
-Bang once again had the only ace of the match

ADDITIONAL STATS
-This is Dicey's second negative series. This sounds bad until you realize Dicey has only ended negative in 4 series in 2022, of over 30 played
-Bang put up an incredible 306 ACS across all maps and 431 on Ascent. He also had a 49% HS, despite mostly using the phantom
-Asuna went 13-6 on FK/FD across all 3 maps
-Dicey didnt get much action with the OP, but went 4-1 in OP duels across the match
-On 100T's attack half of Breeze, 3 players (Asuna, Will, Bang), had 100% KAST
-Phoenix remains winless in T1 NA
-Bang also went 9-2 in FK/FD
-Of Faze's 26 full buys, the only won eight

LOOKING AHEAD
-100T will face Guard in the Grand Final, and are 3 maps away from Champions
-Faze are out of Champions contention, and their franchising status is unknown

MCT is objectively harder. FPX, DRX, PRX, OpTic, EDG, LOUD, none of them stand a chance against TSM academy
