If I rob you in the street is it your fault for carrying valuables on you?

Putting yourself in a vulnerable situation does not make the perpetrator any less wrong for taking advantage of you.

Since they were dating, it's especially bad because she only put herself in that vulnerable state because she decided to place her trust in him--being vulnerable with each other is a thing lovers do after all.

Potentially getting someone pregnant should not be treated as an oopsie

The fact that people arent considering the consequences of that, both physical and psychological is precisely why breaking boundaries like that should be taken as seriously as it is, regardless of how serious it may sound to you or whether you even understand why

Viewership maybe, Riot would want to favor the odds toward regions that could boost viewership the most in VCT if they were to ascend

Edit: nvm there isn't two spots

Wolves is already kind of doing this, but I feel like if more professional football clubs find monetary and competitive success (through bundle sales and tournament wins), it'll start a whole new wave of investment into the esport by their peers who 100% have the money to sustain the tier 2 ecosystem whereas existing orgs are struggling

Reduxx is unironically the next Sayf and rival to aspas

the only valid replacements imo are Jawgemo, Victor, N4rrate, and saya

posted 4 months ago

I honestly think Icy has more in common with Zekken and Derke than he does with Sayf or Life

Derke used to be a lot more aggressive, but he's toned it back a lot more ever since the start of franchising. Hes a lot more of a system player now

Zekken is the quintessential system duelist but he also has insane aim and confidence to prop himself that extra step higher

Sayf is the closest player to Aspas imo except he's more aggressive than him

Life is the most aggressive player in the entire fucking world to the point of borderline inting, but he makes up for it with his insane plays

I'm all for subverting your own expectations in your everyday life, but this is a sport

it's not fun unless you double down on the teams you want to win; there's no stakes to get your heart pumping unless there's passion involved

I think he means as duelist

the two imports aside, the fact that both LATAM teams managed to make champs despite having what everyone agrees is a shallow talent pool is incredible.

We're a testament to the idea of growing players, and improving long-term as a team.

It's mostly the same 10 players between LEV and KRU, but individually they are not the same players that they were in 2021 and 2022.

If you commit enough resources to a small pool of talent, they are capable of not only competing but dominating at the highest levels of the game--among titans and superteams with cutthroat recruiting styles

I hate to break it to you, but having a high FDPR is not a good thing

posted 4 months ago

I hate how there's a subset of people that downplay the achievements of duelists only because they think their individual impact is overrated.

I understand that it's hard for support players to garner the same levels of fame, and there are certainly a large majority of people that only think players like Aspas, T3xture, etc. are the goats because cool flashy plays, aura, etc., more than anything

And I agree that they should get more recognition, especially players like Leo (more than chronicle imo), who are able to set up info for their team to play off of while garnering impactful kills when their team needs them to, even if their playstyle isn't as flashy.

But i'm annoyed by this trend of downplaying any duelist that's performing amazingly just because "they're being set up by their team", when their team needs them just as much as they need them.

posted 4 months ago

What's harder?

Setting someone up perfectly and playing off their space, or being able to perfectly capitalize off the opportunities your teammates create and baiting yourself for them to get kills

posted 4 months ago

To those of you that always highlight support players in GOAT conversations

What are the prerequisites that a pure duelist player has to meet in order for you personally to ever consider them the greatest of all time.

posted 4 months ago

depends on if Leo actually takes up IGL role, both would be nice

hiro feels like he's part of a superteam, he's an S tier player in a sub role

as much money as they have, I don't think they can compete with NRG salaries if they really want him--and given his rookie status I doubt his contract is that large at the moment

It's reaching the heights of CS which is inevitably gonna lead to a roadblock

Before that point, growing viewership meant attracting existing esports viewers to your game's competitive scene--but there's ultimately a limited amount of esports viewers.

It's now more a matter of growing esports viewership as a whole rather than attracting viewers from other esports

and riot is already trying to do that by promoting the esports scene within the game itself via skins, the esports hub, twitch drops, etc.

tl;dr riot have taken hold of a sizeable enough slice of the esports pie, and now they have to focus on making that pie bigger

to be fair, it's a lot harder to for a low elo player to learn from radiant games since they make a lot of midround decisions, make certain plays that rely on assumptions about their teammates and their opponents and how they're supposed to play.

Being self-sufficient is it's own skill, and seeing what's essentially a live tutorial on how to punish the stupid mistakes of gold players does have its learning value whereas you'd never get a chance to demonstrate that in a radiant lobby where those mistakes aren't made

will update with other duelists as I think about them. Let me know if you disagree with any of the individual factors and why.

NOTE: This is not a definitive ranking yet since I haven't included the stats for all duelists in VCT
