I think they're predicting Skye too fall out of the meta and they want another player to be able to play another duelist because Ethan is basically just a skye one trick and he plays omen on icebox.

If they bought out seven just to switch his role that would be the most braindead thing possible. That's what NRG tried to do (buy a bunch of duelists and force them on new roles) and that team is burning rn. I guarantee you the only reason they bought him was to prevent him from joining another top org. I think eventually they'll be swapping him around with Asuna on different maps.
