What happened to Neon?

Everytime a new agent gets revealed, everyone says its OP and game breaking.

This is especially true when the Neon trailer came out and everyone went crazy saying she is the most OP agent ever and is going to break the game. Some are saying she's getting nurfed instantly and even some players threatening to quit.

Look where we are now. No nerfs, almost no presence in Pro play. And I've not seen Neon once in rank for the past month. (diamond - immortal elo)

But don't worry the community will say the same thing when the next agent gets revealed.

I don't think neon is bad in fact she's probably quite balanced (maybe a little buff required), however, Jett is just too good to be replaced by neon and at the maps where she's not played raze takes the crown, leaving little to no space for other duelists.

neon is a really good agent, ppl just dont know how to use it yet, look at deffo playing it, he was insane

I mean it is OP. This Game isn't only about Ranked. Pro Players need Agents that help them to do things they have planned and nothing else. They need Agents to gain Space, win Space, deny a Plant to win time, take fights with less risks, hold a Site Solo so long until someone can rotate. Since Neon is only good for an aggressive flank (with her Ult) she don't see much play and the reason why is Raze. Raze is just better and has 3 Abilities which can get you info and the other 2 can kill enemies on Mass if used right. Pros like to do things as easy and riskfree as possible.

everyone just overreacts when a new agent is leaked and think the abilities are op. neon isnt horrible tho, biggest knock on her is that her ult sucks at a high level. i would say she is the 3rd best duelist (jett and raze being 1 & 2)

oddly enough the one agent that got nerfed was one that no one really thought would be OP before release but then ruined the entire meta for a while :)

No one with half a brain thought she would be better than Jett. Some people just didn’t like the direction the devs were taking the game. There is a large portion of the community that sees any agent that makes the game drastically different than CS as a bad agent.

This game blurs the line between Tac FPS and twitch shooter and I don’t think some people are ready for that discussion.

Neon is great for flanking with ult and just running and gunning people down however most people can't user her wall as they get spammed or instantly killed after coming out. Her concuss is probably the best ability as its an instant Breach Concuss paired with sliding mobility but its too risky and very situational. Not enough brain cells for average soloq player.

Every agent cannot be a mainstay. Neon has her niche on some maps, with some teams' compositions.

M3C, Optic, and Paper Rex have all used her in important games to decent success.

I think her place in the game is healthy, with the exception of her ultimate which I think needs changes to be viable in pro-play.

Neon had a very niche spot as a duelist. You will not see her in ranked play just because of the amount of team coordination she takes to play properly. In pro play with good coordination she is insane on some maps like split and haven. She is by not means Jett but she is a good pick to “be different” and has her own niche spot in pro play. I think optic and M3C are great examples of how OP she can be when used properly!
