Do people actually enjoy watching BO5's? I just think it gets really overwhelming if it goes to 5 maps and it lasts for 6 hours

True but isn't that kinda the point. You need to be good to be consistent over such a long period with pressure on you. Thats why its good for a final cause you rarely get a fluke winner, but its someone that deserves it
I do enjoy bo5s especially when its Liquid but theyre pretty long and i do miss a few bits here and there, maybe whole maps too
avg valo game = 35 mins
no. of games = 5
=> 35x5 = 175 mins
1 minute = 1/60 hours
175 = 175/60
=> 2.9hrs
=> round off to 3 hours.

Qualifying to EMEA means everything, so all matches which select these 8 teams must be Bo5
Just imagine:
If you don't qualify, you then must grind the boring VRL circuit without many viewers, become regional champion (which is not easy), and then become top-2 in Promotion Tournament (which is also a very hard task), while starting from 8-team group stage with other VRL winners and then advancing to top-2 in playoffs
Meanwhile teams who qualify right now just need to NOT FINISH LAST in their EMEA groups to not be relegated to Promotion Tournament
I asked Yay on twitch if he felt BO5 for final is too long sometimes and he answered it's appropriate.
