Japan has webnovels? I thought generally they had only light novels. But yeah like 99% of light novels are Isekai shit while the rest are still goated tho. Also I have heard English or western web novels are the best but haven't read them.

if we're comparing average quality then maybe english are the best though a lot of them tend to be copies of one another and they're almost parodies of chinese webnovels (which are what inspired them)

if you're comparing the best from each language though, the best chinese webnovels are miles ahead

(also yes japan does have webnovels but they do produce more light novels)

Well ok heard great things about mother of learning, cradle etc. also yeah top level Chinese web novels are great. But good thing about cn webnovels is the variety in mtl sites. Very creative and fun or slice of life stories. What's your favorite web novels btw? Mine is 'a valiant life' as it was my first story that I remember clearly.

mother of learning is great, probably the best english original webnovel
cradle is mid, only reason it's so popular is that it was one of the first "western xianxia"

my favorite webnovels would be kingdoms bloodline, invisible dragon, reverend insanity, mother of learning and death scripture (but only the first volume)

a degree below that: lord of the mysteries and my house of horrors

another degree below that: the king's avatar and the legendary mechanic

maybe i forgot something but these are what I could think of

Great list have tried all of those except for mol, kb and ds. But yeah got bored nowadays of such novels especially if they are slow so just reading popcorn or time pass fast paced novels until I get bored of them too.

yeah I don't read webnovels as much these days either, most of the time I read some manga/manhwa/manhua slop or do something else in my free time

everything starts as a web novel... ln is the copy backed by a publisher...
also you are thinking of web novels when you say 99% isekai. a lot of japanese light novels are romance or fantasy, not isekai

Chinese Web novels have big variety like anime. Cultivation is like the Isekai of manga. You can find almost any type of story.

prob the fault of translator and the gap between
There are few ppl know WELL ab chinese out of china(ofc taiwan) but lots know well ab English Japanese French Spanish... out of its original countries.
I mean you have to ask the REAL chinese novels' readers.
