i never played cs2 but its pretty much just csgo

no there arent any "agents" or "abilities", everyone can go and buy the same guns and utility
everybody can buy flash, nade, smoke, molly, decoy grenade (makes gun shot sounds but can be used as a fake flash)

only thing is only terrorists (attackers) can buy Ak47 (which 1 tap heads, basically vandal) while ct (defenders) can only buy m4a1s/m4a4 (basically a phantom)

yet there are roles like fragger, awper but you would have to ask someone else who is more educated on this

roles are basically just how a player plays

if you want to be entry thats basically the duelist

awper is a set role on the team and their job is to save money for awp and throw a lot of the flashes for teammates as well as awping

on ct one or two players will be the 'star' so they will be playing the strong ct positions

Two sides, counter terrorists cts and terrorists ts, everyone buys same util and utils can counter each other, smoke extinguish molly and grenades can clear smoke, ts have ak and cts have m4a4/m4a1-s, game is very fundamentals heavy and emphasizes gunfights more than valorant. Since everyone is the same it allows every player the same opportunity for massive hero plays and outshine everyone else. There are still dedicated roles like in valorant, dedicated awper, entry fragger/duelist, support, roamer, and igl. Not much different from valorant which is expected since valorant esports started with washed up cs pros coming to valorant.

tl;dr, valorant with no agents/abilities, but you can buy grenades which are smoke, molotov, damaging grenade, flashbang and decoy. attackers have vandal no phantom, defenders have phantom no vandal.

roles are just who plays where and how they play.
T Side: entry fragger is just the person going first. star riflers are normally 2nd to clean up easy kills. IGL is IGL (and normally also the support who is throwing util more than others), AWPer uses the sniper and your lurker moves around to make space on the map.
CT side: you have 2 anchors, 2 rotates and an AWP. 2 rotators are your stars as they get to sites faster to get kills on the defense, anchors just sit there and hope they can get kills while 5 people rush them. AWP can move but normally plays the middle areas same as val.

CS is a simple 5v5 game, but as they say “ The simplest things are often the most complex.” With just guns and utility (flash, molly, smoke, HE nade, decoy), unlike other games it is often compared to normal sports as you have to come up unique ways to beat your opponent, so the game is heavily layered, at least at the high level.

General roles are: (not always super strictly played)
T side: (Terrorists - Attackers)
IGL - in game leader calling strats and can play a supportive role as well such as throwing supporting util or other things to support the team
Entry fragger - first to push either to find info or go kill. Often dying a lot due to being traded, but their roles can be super impactful
Awper - self explanatory, every team has different styles of awpers, aggressive or passive, sometimes they are in the backlines to throw support util as well and look for trades or in the front to find the picks
Lurker - Also self explanatory, can be super impactful due to causing disruption
Trader/Star rifler - Often the one to get the most shine due to having comfortable roles of getting the trades and being able to play their own game. Most insane players you have heard about often have this role.

CT side: (Counter Terrorists - Defenders)
Anchors: Holding down their specific sites and can play a supportive role
Rotator/Star Rifler: Pretty much the same as the the T side as they get to move around the map looking for kills so playing their own game
Awpers: Also similar to T side, except it is argued CT awper has more impact because it is way easier to get picked off by pushing
IGL: same as T
Support: Self explanatory again by playing a supporting role to set up the team with throwing util or whatever

Like I said roles aren’t strict like lurkers dont always lurk and even some players might switch up their roles in rounds due to their specific strat or whatever such as a fast rush or being down players. Some teams might not even play these roles traditionally due to their play style.
