I wrote two poems to submit in something of a poetry competition my school is holding for some famous poet guy who's here. However I was only allowed to submit one of the two, so this is the poem I didn't choose to submit.
Just felt like sharing it here.
Theme: Love
A Shooting Star
Your hair
flowed in the wind
like a bouquet of rosemaries,
dancing in the palm
of an angel.
A shooting star
nestled itself
into your eyes,
not budging from its place.
Neither it nor I
wanted it to leave
How long does it take?
To start a flame with those flowers that fell
from my stuttering hands on that fateful day?
How far away are you?
And how will I ever get there
without cheating?
I am impatient.
I can’t wait,
for as long as you can.
A shooting star,
was dragged out of its den,
taking its ethereal glow,
back into the night sky.
I begged it to stay,
and it did too.
Your hair
soaked in the tears
like a broken broom left out in the rain,
abandoned
by the spool of our destiny.
