i saw a lot of similar point being made in his thread and i think most of you missed the point
- race ≠ nationality
while this is true, a lot of racial stereotypes come from the culture. take for example stereotypes about black people, a lot of them are targeted at african-american people and not all black people, racists hate the culture and behavior more than they hate the appearance - hypocrisy
the thread wasn’t just about the racism, it was about hypocrisy, how some people bash on racists but don’t shy away from hating nations (french and indian people specifically). if you’re anti-racist, then your values should apply to every case. Don’t hate on an entire group because of a few bad apples. “but what now i can’t hate sen fans?” i mean if you really hate them then you’re weird, but hating on personal choices is not comparable to hating on someone’s nationality - it’s friendly banter
is it though? i’m not denying that all of the comments are hateful. some are indeed banter, but a lot of you dont see the line. just ask yourself if it’s okay to make the same joke about a race, if it’s not - then it’s not okay in this case either
smthlikeyou wasn’t just calling out racists. he was calling out hypocrites who pretend to be moral while also breaking their own values when it comes to french or indian people
