Hello everyone! Yesterday, I presented my idea for VCT Rankings system and I got a lot of positive comments and suggestions so I think Im gonna try to bring this project to life in some time!
Here's just a preview of how would the rankings table look like visually.

I explained everything in the first post, here's the link:

NOTE: These rankings are going to be franchised teams only!

PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE THIS SYSTEM EVEN BETTER, TELL ME YOUR OPINIONS

Awesome idea honestly, I would expand on the team skill differential mentioned at the end, where as the extra points added/deducted for beating/losing to a team better than you is a percentage of that team's ranking points. Like if Loud beats furia, and let's say Loud had 500 ranking pts and furia 350 at the time, you could subtract like 10% of the difference between the teams ranking pts since Loud should beat furia. So instead of furia losing 100, they would only lose 85. Other than that, I think this would be a really great system.

Yes, I was exactly thinking about that. But it would be very hard to do all that manually, it would require a software or a program that could calculate everything automatically.

I heard that SQL is a good choice, but I'm not familiar with it and can't do much there really.

Technically SQL would work for what you want, the issue being that database stuff can be expensive (in time and or money) to host/maintain. I think based on just what you've explained that you could do most of the math in excel/sheets, especially since it would allow you to track where/when team scores come from in a big table. You could then make nice graphics yourself with the resulting info/calculations

I just looked it up, and yes, it can definitely work even in Excel. But what about the team skill differential mentioned above, do you have any idea how could I manage that to calculate automatically?

I think cell references would work. For example, You would just have to layout the team skill ratings at the beginning, then put the formula into the adjacent cell to whatever matchup is happening. It would be very simple if you laid out all teams ratings and all matchups once the schedule is released. Just put the two teams rating cells minus each other * .10 as a formula next to all the matchups. Updating the team rating after every matchup would be the only time consuming part I think.

Okay so this heavily depends on the possibility of a team's score being negative but something like

[(team 1 score + team 2 score)/(2 x winning team score)] x n

where n is the number of points awarded for the win/loss in this situation as previously outlined depending on the stage/tournament
