Champion points in theory was built to reward teams for consistency and good placings throughout the season but we can clearly see this is not the case and the point system is deeply flawed.

Gen g is by far the most consistent team of 2024 with finishing 1st at kickoff domestically, 2nd at Madrid, 2nd Stage 1 domestically and 1st at Shangai this is a team that should have been guaranteed making champions no matter what happened.

The fact there’s a situation where if they lost yesterday there was a possibility they didn’t make champions shows that this system needs to be reworked you can’t only award points for 1st place.

Yeah and 2nd place (even 3rd !) can get you a small amount of points

Kickoff matches also just didn’t reward points for some reason Sentinels should be guaranteed by now aswell

cuz it wasn't round robin, some teams had byes, and there was a three-way knockout round. Many different ways for some teams to get more points than others in less than fair ways. If teams got points for wins, the tournament woulda ended with LEV having less points than MIBR

Don’t think you should get points for winning matches in internationals but top3 should get points just not 1st considering you can skip group stage etc

GenG just didn't perform as well as PaperRex domestically. PaperRex lost only once to secret and had a 9-1 record while GenG had lost four times giving them a 6-4 record. PaperRex won the split 1 playoffs as well. I believe GenG is the best team this year but they still don't preform amazingly in pacific. I think the points work as to insure teams that do well domestically don't bomb in playoffs and lose their champs spot. If a team who won a major can lose in a regional playoff then I don't think they deserved that spot. Of course GenG did make champs and earned it.

Makes no sense tbh GEN G are more consistent than PRX and getting 1st and 2nd at international tournaments and getting 1st and 2nd domestically is also an amazing performance domestically losing some group stage games shouldn’t disqualify you from a spot from champs that’s literally working against the whole reason of champ points in the first place
