Already Champs qualified teams

I was looking at Liquipedia and I saw that both EDG and FPX have qualifeid before playoffs started how?

Even if one of them bombs out they win via champ points.

If both lose their upper semi one is guaranteed to go to lower finals to champs as they play eachother. The other has enough champ points.

because both EDG and FPX are 1st and 2nd seed, so one of them must qualify as top 3, and the other will at least have enough champs points to qualify also, since no team can catch up to their points

They’re the 1/2 seeds, which guarantees them a bye round 1 and all teams that make it to round 2 would be 4th place at minimum. if one of them loses as 4th place, the other team would at minimum place in 1-3rd place for VCT China, and thus secure their spot as the 1-3rd seed. The team that bombs out would go to worlds as the 4th seed due to having the most champions points of the remaining teams that didn’t place into the top 3 (no one else can catch up to them even with the extra point from winning round 1 of playoffs).
