No, Icy is exactly who valyn wanted and exactly who they need, a selfless role player who can get the job done, G2/Guard has always been about the TEAM not the duelists. people need to stop sleeping on g2 as a team and icy just because he doesnt drop monster statlines - his willingness to die and be traded is something people underrate, his discipline is also much more valuable than keznits overheats.
please dont revise history, look at the guard's games they worked together as a unit, not just sayaplayer go kill, tex wasnt dropping monster stat lines every game either, he was a good roleplayer, I really like valyn's vision of the game - everyone is equal and has different roles not like CS where some players are expected to be util sluts for their stars only
edit - and icy definitely has the mechanics to "make shit happen" but its not that obvious rn because you have to remember he's still a rookie in tier 1
I agree with post so much, you can see how much the "only support the duelist" archetype of a team works, Oxy is insane but once you understand you only have to shut him down it becomes so much easier to beat a team like that. C9 have been struggling this split since they have had tougher opponents who are able to anti strat better vs them
yep, just look at aspas's LOUD and Leviatan, they are good against the mid - low tier teams because of aspas's raw fragging ability but when they went up against teams like EG last year and G2/100T where they would never give him a fair 1v1 you really understand why just 1 "president" level player can never work out, everyone being equal just adds so much more depth to a team, like today anyone can pull out a clutch, trent, jonah valyn leaf
