DRX never bought Lakia out. Back then, Lakia's contract with Nuturn ended and he contacted Vision Strikers to join them. (Source)

Even in the recent Homegrown documentary, Lakia said it was his decision, although he thinks it was the wrong one now

I mean i'm ultimately proud of GenG they highly deserved it after that close finals against SEN. Both events they been the team that's been the most dominant and consistent. I think the only series they lost was against SEN no? If they keep it up GEN G era might be a thing.

fresh winners are always welcome, this year has been very good in the sense we see resurgence of "washed" players/teams and rise of new talents (if only riot wasn't experimenting with formats and stuffs this year). Geng winning was well deserved. They're going a long way if they keep this form.
