Why are they tryna play like the west? Why dont they play like how they did before? Before they looked so dominant with their playstyle. Also smoggy smoke feels so weird. His initiator and jett was crazy
yeah but let's not pretend like trying to be PRX-lite is the solution to every team that's not named FPX. EDG has always been a team that prides themselves on good mechanical fundamentals & not doing anything too insane on the macro. IMO adopting a western playstyle will do them WAY more favors in the long-run once they figure shit out
idk what they are playing this year. Since sword9 left EDG, I can see less and less things in EDG matches.
the coach After...idk what he is doing, Haodong said they reviewed Ascent against FPX (4.27 4-13 Ascent) for three hours, telling FPX be careful about their Ascent, and then banned it yesterday (and you see, 2-13 against DRG). This is called "three hours' review on Ascent" lmao.
(btw you see AG successfully went to playoffs for stage 1 with Sword9, although in the beginning of the year nobody thought they could reach there)
EDG coach thinks copying the strats from teams like FNATIC will get them playing "proper" valorant but in reality this doesn't play to China's unique strength of thriving in chaotic and aggressive moments - sure they can copy but they'll never exceed. I disagree that it's all for nothing though, EDG struggled a lot with closing maps out and keeping their lead before they started copying strats - they used to be the ultimate chokers. By playing more standard they've fixed a lot of their weaknesses especially when kk's rifling wasn't as good and he had to rely on the OP too much. Now he can do both extremely well. The next step for EDG is to go halfway back to that style now that they have so much experience: be more aggressive, use the attack OP - this is what actually made China scary for teams to face
I think FPX will do a lot better than EDG at shanghai because they've embodied a lot of the CN unpredictable style while having fixed a lot of their fundamental mistakes at Madrid which cost them a win against KC & LOUD (It was way closer than people think)
I understand the copying strats thing it did actually help develop them as a team but they're like fnatic now in the sense that they just stuck to this for way too long idk how the coach hasn't realised it's time to go back to more of the cn style, they're trying to beat other teams at what they're already good at
