People who speak Portuguese and Spanish come

Are the differences between language (not culture) actually that big? ive been taking spanish in school past 9 years and Im around the advnaced level, ive been to many different spanish speaking countries and have been able to comunicate fine, I want to visit portugal in the future and since I know the languages ARE similar, how much the differences actually are. Any feedback is much apreciated! :)

just be careful cause there are a lot of words that are spelt the same, but have different meanings..

ps: don't talk too fast, they might not understand what ur saying

you can speak like 90%, im sure chinese dialects are much more different

for me i can understand an english speaker more than a spanish speaker, i dont understand like 50% of what they are saying
and just to add to your post if you want to visit portugal it will be really hard to understand portuguese there because some times even brazilians cant understand the portuguese from portugal

I speak Spanish and while I found that I can actually read Portugese decently well, I can't understand it all when it's spoken by native speakers. I think a lot of it comes down to the accent, because Sadhaak's portugese is a lot easier for me to understand
