Kinda mid no? There’s no way Omen will be replaced. Maybe they can be good for the decay and lineup with raze nade or with a judge. We’ll probably see PRX use them and that’s it. Plus that name giving me PTSD, idk why.

With how strong omen and viper are there isnt much room for a new controller unless they are the level of astra on release or something. even then idk how strong that astra would be at this point

The fact that Clove can smoke after death is a huge bonus IMO. Clove (imo) could end up being the best at being the second controller, since you can take a lot of risk and still have impact even if you die

if you entry site you can still smoke for postplant after death

same with if you push for map control postplant

thats assuming clove dies on the site where bomb goes down or generally where action is happening
u pop a bind tp and clove's value post-death nosedives
clove dies in an extremity on a default and their value post-death nosedives
etc

im hesitant to attach too much value to it on release date

in those cases you probably have a second controller to make up for it anyway

yeah primary controller can usually go with pack anyways, and viper who is usually secondary is the designated lurk

good as a ranked agent, but for pro play i can only see PRX running it. I don't think it'll replace smokers like omen/astra/brim due to the lack of supportive util compared to those other agents

Clove feels good to play in ranked, defo wayy better as the flex bc they have actual util to support team and the agency to fight wherever and u dont have to worry about anchoring

I think Clove will be good on maps where omen blind doesn’t have too much impact like pearl (although maybe astra is still better there)

astra would 100% be better because of smoke size, clove's are simply too small esp for b site choke unless you run double controller
double controller has kind of faded in meta since the changes tho in favour of ascent style comps(and will do so even more with the skye nerfs)

Clove is a strong second controller pick alongside viper. I see them being good on lotus, ascent, and maybe icebox.

smoking while dead is a game changer, everything else is mid.

good smokes, can use while dead
decay ability only good in site combos (backsite B of bind)
the ability after killing is mid asf
ult is mid asf cause it cant be a regular res, can only be used if youre gonna get a kill or assist soon after (retakes, site takes etc )
