I'm pretty sure that this means that we're guaranteed that every play-in has a final game which is not a formality.

Only Americas was being weird by guaranteeing Sentinels game 3 no matter what

All the other regions let the loser of game 1 play game 2 so game 3 mattered no matter what.

This is incorrect afaik, Pacific and EMEA both guaranteed that GenG and Kcorp would play map 3 no matter what, and it just coincidently happened that the loser of match 1 played in match 2
