learn basic grammar then start immersing, aim for 2 hours a day of immersion if you really want to improve quickly. playing games in your target language always helps and listening to podcasts, watching youtube videos, movies in target language etc.
no problem, just remember it isnt a sprint, its a marathon. It could take a very long time before understanding even 50% of the sentences but it is incredibly rewarding when you can. Good luck bro

Bro i know french and i can understand portuguese sentences here and there. Need to work on the vocabulary though
Actually, French is the third closest language to Portuguese, trailing only behind Spanish and Italian. all 4 languages are derived from Latin
Atleast for me, french is really hard to understand, the pronunciation is really different

Change ur phone to the language u want to learn and rewatch shows u like with subtitles in spanish
it helps to practice speaking the language with someone that knows it as well
I guess You can find the basics in school material, like vocabulary and grammar rules, then start gradually immersing with small things like subtitles in movies or the language of your phone.
Also remember that people speak very different depending on where are they from. Spanish from Spain is WAY different than Spanish from Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, etc.

never choose chinese, it is way too hard - duolingo is actually not that bad trust me
- watch videos in that language
Try to learn the basics (grammars, alphabets, and phonetics) and immerse yourself in that language as much as possible, through various different sources of media.
Most effective for me is to THINK in the language that I'm trying to learn. It just helps you to be able to respond faster making interactions with natives a little less cumbersome and nerve-wracking
the only thing i know is you have to know the basic grammar first and thereon just put yourself in a position to use that language a lot
beyond all of the advices here (most of them really useful)
you should have a real reason to learn this language, then you can get good results in it
