Not necessarily ,and statistics would suggest otherwise as well. While they're there for shroud , it would be incorrect to conclude that they aren't there to watch the match since you'll have to argue that those are two mutually exclusive conditions which is simply not true . While people are there watch to shroud , they're more specifically there to watch shroud's thoughts and reactions to the match they're watching anyway , this is also suggested by the fact that many clips valorant enthusiasts , reporters and such posted on twitter regarding the events were also from shroud's stream , because people would rather watch shroud talking about the game than the casters that most of these people don't know or have any idea about. As to what's supporting my argument , it's as I said in the beginning of the comment , statistics.
Most games that shroud watched during masters had disproportionately higher viewers than he usually gets on stream:
https://twitchtracker.com/shroud/games/516575
Notice that all the days he streamed watching the matches he had quite magnitudes of increment in viewers as opposed to viewers he generally got before that and even after masters , he generally gets between 20-24k viewers with some rare days getting viewers to around 30k . Whereas in comparison most games he streamed for masters had upwards of 50k viewers with few games getting to around 89k and even 101k viewers. Even before masters when he streamed watch parties for few of the important challenger matches he had comparatively higher viewers than he normally was getting around that time when he wasn't streaming those matches (obviously not near as much as Masters but still more than the general) This also holds for some other streamers who do watch parties such as myth.
So the only true way of coming to accurate conclusions is stop watch parties and then study the stats , but based on the info we already have , while the total viewers after addition of these watch parties certainly increased , however the disproportionate amount of viewers increasing for these streamers during these matches suggests that even if they didn't stream ,the total viewers wouldn't fall by much , if at all.
https://twitchtracker.com/valorant peak viewers: 96k
https://twitchtracker.com/nerdstgamers peak viewers: 44k
So the official stream had a peak of 140k viewers.
Isn't gaules a caster though? Wouldn't that make him the brazilian stream? I don't know portuguese so I am not completely aware to whether he is casting or not. Either way, CSGO does actually reach 200k on official stream be it whether through English or Russian streams.
Furthermore, I'd like to add that people watch matches in Valorant because their favourite personality is playing in a team (hiko, tenz, scream, sinatra) and not because of the quality of the games. Etc in Europe G2 and Liquid rake about 10 times the viewership that matches like NiP Vs heretics vs FPX vs acend do, same goes for NA. What happens when these players ultimately retire? Players like Hiko and Sinatraa are already on their way out. This problem will be solved by new personalities rising from this game, people that were never seen before, but is that gonna happen?
No, Gaules streams are like watch parties, he makes his insights about the game, but that's it. Also, every single tournament in CS that gets 200k+ are international events with teams from all around the world, while Valorant tournaments are regional, so just add up the numbers from each region when we get to Iceland and you will have your numbers. 100k from NA + 100k from TR + 40k from EU + 40k from BR + more 100k from the rest of the world. That's like 400k people that will watch Masters.
No it doesn't beb0p. It's clear that Valorant has a lot more viewers than CS atm, CS tournaments have the best teams around the world playing each other, while Valorant tournaments are regional, if you add up the viewership of every regional tournament it will surpass CSGO with ease. Doesn't even come close. Val right now has higher numbers and it's growing, while CS is diminishing.
literally look at this https://newzoo.com/insights/rankings/top-games-twitch/ how can you possibly think that valorant gets more viewers. you are literally a braindead Brazilian idiot
Ok, where are the evidence to support your claims man? You are smarter than that. Every good team is in EU playing, so of course their tournaments are the same as world tournaments.
What are you talking about? Tournaments nowadays don't get more than 300k viewers, I remember watching Astralis VS VP with more than 1 million, first international masters will already surpass CSGO numbers with ease, also the number of concurrent viewers in Valorant are almost aways higher than CS in twitch.
My perspective might be different as an American, but it feels like the game’s almost gone mainstream in the sense that even people who aren’t dedicated video game players are playing it. CS had high viewership but I don’t think it was as appealing (especially visually) to regular people. I think the future of the game is pretty bright.
